Is, on reflection, a great album. Will their third be a return to form?
But it wont.
Very much looking forward to their 3rd, I am expecting good things.
I enjoyed it really, thought it felt rushed. The fallen was ok and outsiders was a tune, the rest was big fat filler for me.
It was rushed, you can take 5 tracks off of it and it is so much better... eheh, which is ironic given the title... ;)
the songs in the middle all sound the exact same and fade together is just awful.
i'm getting really bored of waiting for number three. i've almost given up on them.
I have high hopes, the little snippits on their annoyingly designed website are intriguing.
You're a crap emo, Tony.
he is more of an Em.
What exactly was wrong with the second one? It is a really good album.
always felt like a few smugfaces shitting some campisms that they don't really care about at me.
they employed those Xenon-something production team to help them work up the songs for this album and that didn't work so they went from "we're first and foremost a pop band" to completely contradicting themselves. I think they're trying too hard to be... something, when they should try harder to be themselves. Like the kaiser chiefs who i am finding it harder and harder to be rude about because in actuality what they do is quite natural, so even if you don't like it it's quite hard to not appreciate it (unlike the fratellis whose sound is a contrived rip off of the kaisers with added pub rock)... erm, forgotten what i was trying to say now...
is that cathy dennis's day job?
Perhaps they should do what The Hives did and work with Pharell Williams (maybe Timberland?) if that is the route they want to go? Worst comes to the worst now they will end up as festival stalwarts
they'll work with kanye west, if they work with anyone, since he was bumming them a while ago.
actually, ff seem to feel like a britpop band to me. it's like they've been around for ten or fifteen years, pedaling the same old shite, album after album, and who occasionally pop up at festivals and go "yeah, the new stuff we're working on is coming on great!" when not that many people give a fuck really. i remember they used to bang on about releasing new music every year they were together, but... sigh
No. Because in actuality, they suck.
Badum-cha! Here all night, folks.
Hm. Still. Do think they're mostly a wacky seaside novelty act.
in opinion-differing shocker!
I love 'FF' as much as ANYONE. I think their album did a lot for British indie. Everything became a bit less masculine and bland and a bit more dancilicious.
But now its been done to death, and although they were responsible for heavily influencing a lot of people, their third album won't have half as much impact.
The Strokes' 4th
is their only good song.
yes, they're more interesting than The Killers and Kasabian but that's not exactly hard is it?
I haven't heard anything about them in ages. I like both the first and second albums so hopefully I won't be disappointed with the new one.
that they played at Glastonbury sounded good. Went down very well given that no-one had heard it before.
