once unbeleiveably bad considering the hype, the other life changingly good.... take from that what you will...(inconsistency)
in the leeds cockpit and they seemed bored at best. At one point the bassist started leaning against the wall to the left of the stage for an entire song. But perhaps it was just a really tour etc etc.
1) the social (?)
2) Glasto- the second time
Am i right?
1)glasto - peel
2)glasto - 2nd
Couldn't get into the John Peel tent to see em the day before.
do you not think?
They were afwul at Roskilde as well. The album has a couple of good songs on it, but they should've been spending more time writing the songs. An EP might've been the best choice
they were pretty awful. we left halfway through. apparently they ended with a 15 minute extended jam or something. eek.
I read they played hour long versions of Ghostbusters back in the day :o
Anyway I've neither heard nor seen this band so I can't comment
i saw them at Werchter and they sounded rubbish (except Time To Pretend). Except all my friends laped it up.
Although their cover of Immigrant Song wasnt bad - but they should do it properly rather then just pissing about on a synth for 2 minutes
and the peeps at the front seemed to be enjoying themselves.
However, I really didn't thing the whole big stage opportunity had been worked out in any detail for MGMT. They looked a bit uncomfortable - they had a young kid on the stage with them and he/she seemed to outclass them somehow?
they were superb at SXSW in the rio and bloody dreadful at the astoria recently.
have a ticket for the forum, was going to sell it out i saw that a place to bury strangers are supporting them
I can see why they might put some people off: there is a hell of a lot of jamming (as you might expect when you've got to do an hour-long headline set with only forty-odd minutes of material...), but at the gig I went to they pulled it off pretty well and manged not to get too wanky about it. Interestingly, the only song that they didn't seem that interested with was Time To Pretend, which got doled out in a fairly complacent, will-this-do? manner about halfway through the set - they must get shivers of disgust every time that synth riff starts up...
...a dumb thread
On record - utter shite
