I am so so sad..
good shop that is, tad expenssive, but still like searching the 7" racks.
but this will be a shame if it closes.
i always thought they were pretty comprehensive.
some of their deal cds were priced reasonably and the 12"s were usually around £11 ish no?
Anyway, I'm sad..
they just didn't have 'yank crime' yesterday
I did. It was great copy.
It was the last west end shop that held a decent stock of stuff I like.
great stock and not that expensive. miserable staff but far better than rough trade east pricewise.
when in London...
someone will take it over.
Should we go in en masse and buy some records?
I won't go there soon...
You never say hi!
since the birth of my first kid !
6 years ago then !
I have bought so many records from there over the years, but seemingly, still not enough.
it always seems to be really busy when i go in there. the reduced CDs are good, you can find some good stuff in there and the place has a good range, though the staff don't look like they want to be there at all.
As mentioned above, miserable, unhelpful staff, who regularly did not know about, let alone stock, things that I wanted.
BUT... I still returned wanting to support the last(??) independant record shop in central London(that sells guitar stuff).
Rough Trade East is great but a bit of pain to get to same for Pure Groove. Where else am I meant to go??
really is fucked now.
although there is an excellent new book and comic exchange..
selectadisc in nottingham could be heading the same way too
It was bad enough when they took over Selectadisc (which was far superior) and this is just pants. Where am I gonna sell my 7"s in Central London now?!
Fucking MP fucking 3s.
that bites :(
"The joint administrators, Ian Cadlock and Andy Pear of Tenon Recovery, says they are hopeful that a sale as a going concern may be achieved within the next four weeks."
they used to be goth to selectadisc's indie. I would have thought the takeover would have been the other way round!
shame, as it had a great selection.
I would never buy anything there though. Far too $$$.
that the actual shop was a bit shit an dwe didn't buy much from there!
by this comment...
I used to get to Shades about twice a year as a very spotty teenager. I remember being overwhelmed by the 'real' metallers that worked in there. You always got a knowing nod of approval for thrash metal purchases but I saw people laughed out of the shop for having the temerity to buy Whitesnake.
Spillers in Cardiff is in danger too, it's a sad state
berwick street RIP.
There's still MR CD. WOOOO!
And the other handful of record shops scattered around.
and a few others that i don't care much for, and which will probably not last for much longer anyway :(
