Kinda mathy. Like Foals. And a new LP in the process of being recorded apparently. Check it out!
Like fuck! I think you're just trying to lure innocent, unsuspecting indie-types into listening to the dissonant/jazz/hardcore maelstrom that is Lye by Mistake to fulfil your own evil ends.
IMO these chaps are peerless in the realms of technical hardcore. Yep, even better than Dillinger. Can't wait for the new LP; the demos on Myspace sound incredible.
this dross doesn't touch Dillinger, the jazz bits are sloppy as fuck. Give me John Zorn over this any day.
Lye by Mistake's jazz interludes eclipse Dillinger's completely. Plus they've managed to progress their music by, y'know, actually progressing, not throwing in a bunch of dodgy pop choruses and cod NIN-worship.
by doing a bad rendition of CI-era Dillinger mixed with Naked City?
You know "Jazz Snob Eat Shit" was always my favourite Naked City joint...
still doesn't stop this band being shit though.
That's a shame. The problem I'm having now is that while I'd agree it sounds similar to CI-era Dillinger, the 'sloppy' jazz parts (and the bluegrass bits, and the other non-jazz freakouts) make this more interesting for me to listen to than Calculating Infinity by virtue of playing like that being entirely absent from that record.
Moreover, the occasional 20-second noodle excepted - none of the songs sound anything like John Zorn's ever done either.
As a consequence, I'm finding it difficult to imagine what I should be listening to instead based on your frames of reference.
In conclusion, I believe your comparisons, though understandable, are flawed in fundamental ways and therefore there must be another reason this band are shit. There MUST be.
i have 'arrangements for fulminating vective' which is brutal, more like dillinger escape plan kind of stuff. haha. foals.
is pretty much the craziest thing i've ever heard. last song in particular.
vocalist left though didn't he? shame
The EP is white hot
Is that The Fantastic? I can find that approximately nowhere. But that said, I've only looked on Amazon.
Update: The swing jazz bit on '900 Seconds' is making me so happy right now. There's nowt so good as jazz when you know metal will follow.
Available for purchase from their myspace page, as of right now.
