they're so good! what don't you like?
this is the first I've seen/heard of them
it's the opposite of good
that is a bit off-putting, but they're a great band with interesting ideas and lyrics. give them a chance with some recorded stuff?
Craig Finn looks exactly how I imagined him to look from his voice, I don't get your point.
What have I missed?
living out his fantasy of being Bruce with the E street band when in reality he isn't even making the cut for Bruce Hornsby and the Range
i can't remember the track names, but they're like the first couple of songs.
just before this song or one before that :(
i'm sure the whole festival will be on p4k.tv by the end of next week
Why the sad faces?!
It's all about the lyrics, innit.
from the 2 and a half songs I've heard so far
is the lead singer a former lawyer?
if you don't like The Hold Steady
but it's coming across as much clichéd Americana as Libertines is/was clichéd 'Albion'
Or maybe I'm comparing them unfavourably to the American college rock bands of my teenage years
you realise that they are obviously a good band that knows what they're doing, maybe it just doesn't suit your taste, they're certainly not sh*te.
"Look at a million pictures and you can never be mistaken"
If I don't like a band, they are shit. And since we're at it - The Smiths were fucking awful.
thats a pretty negative way to look at things.
you're too young to understand
contraire. you're too old to understand ;)
you're so right.
The Hold Steady = Most Amazing Band Ever
OK, no "ever", but they are good. I may, I stayed up way past my bed time to watch em now on P4K :P
My spelling on that is horrible, isn't it? Must be more tired than I think. I'm just going to go back to watching The Hold Steady...
although 'spect to the bald dude with the 'tache
good lyrics. not groundbreaking, but they have a good feel.
they played well at the HMV instore. i even had a beer with them after and they were very friendly.
well maybe I lived through a purple patch of American college/alternative rock
They Might Be Giants
I saw all these bands live between 1990 and 1994 so I guess my palette has been spoiled against this kind of thing
it's just because the Hold Steady are really bland...
I can't quite work out how listening to any of those too much or too little those can affect your opinion on liking The Hold Steady, or not.
so bland. dull music plus unbearably smug self-satisfied faces of band members = no thanks!
