Anyone else going? Should be heavy. Are they selling any tour-only CDs this time around?
They were selling a new tour-only CD called "Radio Earth". 5 live tracks, 4 from the last album plus a new one called "Junkyard Priest" which is due to be the bonus track on the vinyl edition of "The Bees..."
It's good, but probably inessential to non-Earth obsessives. Horrible cover, too.
They were fantastic at Supersonic on Sunday. Keep getting better and better live. Wish tonight's gig didn't clash with Leonard Cohen...
Thanks for that. May pick it up, may not...
They were magical at ATP before christmas, and again in March. Incredible band.
if it weren't at the Scala. The acoustics plus the shitty PA situation possess the combined ability to reduce the most excellent of groups to muddy shit.
they played 'Bees made honey' as warm up music (and after the gig too). It worked really well and I remember thinking 'God I'd love to see Earth here'. Hey ho.
i have most of Earths records, but i would love to own Junkyard Priest.
Did anyone see them tour back in 2002/2003 when Dylan was still doing walls of noise? Earth2 live was insane.
in 2003 (I think) at the Scala. Don't remember it being that noisy - they just did a (very) long version of Dexamyl (like on Living in the Gleam of an Unsheathed Sword). Seemed a bit tentative and didn't completely work. They're much better now than in the immediately-post-comeback phase. Would have loved to see them first time round, though.
The sight of Dylan packing his pedals up in a Lidl bag at the end was truly surreal
I spotted him with the Lidl bags at Supersonic and wondered what they were for. I thought he might have bought some cheap fruit or something for the garden.
but not mind-blowing. Once you could actually hear the keyboard parts it certainly helped flesh the songs out, but I can't help feeling the new stuff really requires two guitarists to work live. I really, really missed Frisell's guitar work in those tracks, especially Engine Of Ruin.
Junkyard Priest...... Have got the live ep on now...
but I think I liked them best at ATP when Milky was playing slide guitar. Milky!
Hu iz Milky?
Slide guitar would be epic, actually. But I still think you can't play Bees era stuff without two guitars. It doesn't sound right.
He is Milky Burgess. Plays in Asva too and with various other people. Has a nice cowboy hat.
I still like them with one guitar but I know what you mean.
