Is it wrong to collect records/CDs?
I was reading the EBAY thread and people were saying how much money they've made from selling their records, and I thought: I'm really, really poor; I have a huge collection of vinyls and CDs; I should sell some. So I went through my vinyls, and there are THREE I could bear to part with - unsurprisingly, they're not really worth anything cos they're shit.
So, I know collecting is a recognised mania, but I don't think I'm one of those - pretty much everything I have, I treasure and love. But am I wrong/stupid too??? Is a band you love's first vinyl single really more important than not going over your overdraft limit AGAIN?? I'm guessing every here will say yes - that'll validate me :-)
PS. The shit I'm willing to part with is: The More Assured's debut 7", Subliminal Girls 'Hungry Like The Wolf' 7", and a 78 of a 1949 seance recording which I accidentally bought and which is very dull. Hit me up if anyone wants one.
