i used to really really like those
Be My Enemy.
they wern't particuarly good either though
they are the ultimate 'whatever happened to...' band
to their newest effort
its sounds a bit like Angels and Airwaves....
They were quite good back in the day...
least enthusiastic responses ever.
on the red vinyl was quite catchy. Can't remember what it was called though.
one OKish album without any sale
one member leaving...
Big surprise they still exist...
..them supporting gang of four about 4 years ago in leeds, i think they were suppot on that whole reunion tour..
Gang of Four?!
Seems pretty...jammy, really.
to see them supporting We Are Scientists last year...still got some good tunes...but never exactly set the world alight...
they were pretty good, especially the bassist. Electric Soft Parade anyone?
i DJed before them once. i think i still have a Be My Enemy t-shirt.
was wearing a Departure T-shirt at Summer Sundae last year. I nearly asked.
at fibbers in york - a few decent tunes, pretty good for what they were.
it's pretty funny if you watch the All Mapped Out video on youtube and read what MTV say about them at the top of the screen...
# The Rakes
# The Cinematics
# The Cooper Temple Clause
# Boy Kill Boy
# Nine Black Alps
# The Dead 60s
Now if there ever was a more perfect list of "what happened to them.. they were quite good at the time.." bands....
i had high hopes for them.
nightjoy was a pretty awesome single
they are still going. Though from what I can gather, they're short of a singer, so not quite sure what's going to happen to 'em... Shame, too, their album is great.
That'll teach me to scroll all the way down a thread before I open me trap...
Colin, their bassist is a great guy and he dates a friend of mine who happens to be a DiSer's sister.
I meant to check over the weekend whether the Rakes were still going, because they're the sort of band you'd imagine would be filling a mid-bill slot at every half-arsed festival, yet they've completely disappeared.
they seem to be playing overseas.
they were alright
are still about, but the lead singer left and now the guitarist has took over the vocals. His voice isn't as good but I still hope they keep going.
Have seen them live 5 times what with them being a local band and all. The new stuff was awful but I think they knew it. They've split now and a few of them are going to be working under a different name.
Not sure if they are still together.
I bought the first single out of Northampton pride but i never got round to purchasing the album. Bit lightweight i always thought. He seems like a nice chap though.
The premier gay festival in the East Midlands.
The record didn't quite capture how good they were live.
