there i said it
but I think they both have good and bad bits on them they are probibly on a par with each other just.
a few good songs mixed in with some loud, repetitive sturm-und-drang hectoring versus a beautiful, layered whole (with, in my opinion, better singles)
first 'i'm online' now this?
oh and, meh
the production on neon bible for sure.
I think funeral has some great and even better songs, but i much prefer the overall feel and sound of neon bible. have probably listened to it a lot more than i did with funeral.
thats why I think its just above meh, funeral is fantastic
It's a good album and all, but no.
about how I listened to a track off Funeral the other day, for the first time in aaaaaaaages, and how it was really good and how it's a shame Neon Bible kind of soiled their reputation, but I guess there's no need for that now.
that song fucking rules
It was 'Crown of Love'.
i heard that song for the first time ever this evening and i pronounce it: pretty good.
and you'll change your mind
neon bible is a bit crap and funeral is a bit brilliant.
no cars go
ocean of noise
and the rest are at least 4/5 efforts. give it time
and a much better version at that.
this thread is weird. funeral is easily, easily better. there's just zero comparison.
I much prefer the neon bible version of no cars go, it flows much better. Mind you I did hear the neon bible version before the ep, and it instantly became one of my faves, so to hear another version was always gonna be a bit disappointing.
As for the album debate, I think they're even stevens.
is their worst song. Yuck.
but theyre both fantastic. depends on the mood im in which i prefer. ive been listenbing to neon bible for the past few hours on repeat and its certainly showing off its subtleties very nicely.
but if i was on a desert island it'd be funeral. even if id have to leave intervention behind
never heard Neon Bible mind
having your nose broken > being kissed by someone you love.
grit sandwiches > pie and chips.
It's a personal album, with a more consistent sound and album feel. Win's voice is also much better on it too.
I've got Arcade Fire as my artist of the month on my radio show (The Alternative Route on WFM97.2). What's everyone's top 3 AF tunes and I'll play the most popular.
Standard choices, but there you go, they're my favourite. Goes without saying that I think Funeral is by far the best Arcade Fire album. Had a real go with Neon Bible today but it still never clicks.
You're talking nonsense.
was the most dissapointing album of this decade.
Neon Neon > Neon Bible
There, I said it.
Neon Bible is well poo.
while not terrible, was pretty forgettable
is way better. i had Neon Bible on, and then I stuck Power Out on, and I was blown away (again) by it's power.
Neon did a good job of adding some decent songs to their live show, but aside from the singles it's not great. Funeral on the other hand is great almost all of the time.
Just kidding. Could you imagine?
i hated it when it first came out, then they played the majority of the album live, and then it all just clicked. it's much harder work than Funeral, but it is far more rewarding.
Funeral > Neon Bible
Neon Bible's OK though. I just don't listen to it anymore, but still occasionally whip out Funeral.
dicks on neon bible and everybody knows it. The best song on Neon Bible imo is No Cars Go and that was released before funeral on an EP which tells you something about neon bible
who prefer Neon Bible are probably the same people how only caught on to Arcade Fire after Radio 1's horrible smugness in the Summer 2007 at how they had 'discovered' this amazing band called arcade fire at glastonbury. Where as if you prefer funeral you're probably more like me who first heard Arcade Fire when you switched to MTV at high time of the 2005 champions league final and where mightily depressed only to hear an amazing song called Power Out, start feeling less depressed and then watch the second half of the final whilst jumping round the living room
you fucking dick
fantastic sweeping statement there.
i was into Arcade Fire just before Funeral got released, and i still prefer Neon Bible, so that dicks on your theory.
...that after listening to it after giving it a couple of years break it's still really disappointing. A few good songs but it just doesn't seem to hang together as well as funeral does. Intervention is still brilliant though.
and everyone knows it
"mirror mirror on the wall show me where them bombs will fall"
as I'm currently doing a load of web work, meaning I'm sat around. So I'm playing the albums back to back in the name of research.
the same treatment DYLRM? got: U.2
Funeral is well awesome.
However this one simply flies in the face of reality
- is that everyone has spent the last four years looking for something as good
- let's just accept it may not happen for a long time
you complete HEATHEN.
the chances are it would be Neon Bible, whether this is because i've over listened Funeral or because it's better I can't tell you but it's definitely the one I'm more likely to reach for.
