Could you people let me know some? I might know them but maybe not. This way I learn some more.
but I use Caimen via Amazon Marketplace for the majority of my albums.
They normally cost around £4 new + £1.50 postage.
And on a more serious note:
normanrecords is pretty much a one stop shop for everything you want.
I've never heard of play and HMV so I will check those.
it's a bit more of an indie one.
you also get a few freebies too of stuff they think you'll like!
It was a Spanish For 100 album, hard to find in the more obvious places, they provided a good service.
great for vinyl
and rough trade....should provide you with pretty much all you would want between the three of them
also posteverything.com is pretty good
Also like Juno, Jumbo, Banquet, Picadilly, Smallfish (electronic gubbins), Action and Amulet (mail order run from eBay), Boomkat and Phonica (amazing range of quality electronic/techno/house/breaks/dubstep etc)
Thanks for that.
Album downloads for $10 ie about £6
Boomkat for all electronica and experimental gubbins. Top, er, shop!
They provide no indication as to whether what you're ordering is in stock and if it isn't, they just leave you hanging. I've ordered two or three things with them in the past which have never shown up.
boomkat and normanrecords are excellent, though.
I agree. Rough Trade is the worst for communcating things about orders. It's annoying as well how they have things on their site, you order it thinking it's in stock and then you wait for ages without contact. When you contact them regarding said order, they tell you that they never hd it in stoack and that the order is 'pending' with the supplier/distributor.
I order pretty limited stuff in the main, so if they need to do this, why dont they at least let you know that's what's happening? Once it gets to this stage, i've never had an order fulfilled yet. They may as well just take it off the site once they are out of stock as they've already had their stock quota. The only good thing is they don't debit your account upfront when this happens. </end of frustrated rant>
I've found that Picadilly and Norman have been the best all-rounders. Plus, youget free sweets in your packages from Norman's. Can't be a bad thing, except for your teeth.
I was thinking of ordering the Seal Cub Clubbing Club EP from them.
when I used them a long time ago.
Great selection, totally independent, lovely people... FTW!
