I will say no more.
Chairs Missing is even better
I wouldn't say utterly amazing though, chairs missing however...
about to order chairs on the strength of both of your heavily detailed reviews. thanks
Pink Flag sounds like an innovative album made in 1977.
Chairs Missing sounds like an innovative album made in 2011 - but that was actually made in 1978.
Chances are, if you're on DIS, your music collection owes Chairs... a fat debt in nods, winks and blatant rip offs.
Such a great album.
Round the time they called it "Punk Floyd" because of its awesome fusion pyscadelic and punk. If that ever did exist.
get 154 as well as Chairs Missing. Oh and the live cd/dvd Wire:OntheBOX.
this is "the ultimate punk album"
Shows how good a band they were though that it sits at number 3
I went to uni with Colin Newman's wife in 1999-2002. I heard of Wire through her but I didn't listen to them until 2004. I even met him a few times at our exhibitions (it was a fine art degree).
I kick myself now for not bothering to listen to them sooner cos i'd love to meet him again now...
Send is the best one. It's also one of the greatest albums ever made.
Then 154, then Chairs Missing and THEN Pink Flag, which is still very good but quite raw and rushed where the later albums are absolutely deadly.
If you count Read And Burn 03 as an album then it's about level with 154. The Vien EP is a notch below but still extraordinary
The 80's didn't happen.
and I picked up :(
but whenever I put Chairs Missing on, I almost end up switching to Pink Flag about 3 tracks in. More fun. I like fun.
and then stick something else on?
then put on possibly the greatest 3-shot opening salvo of all time.
Think they are smart and push a lot of my buttons, but are difficult to love completely. They do seem a bit cold to me, 154 probably comes closest.
