It was bloody funny. He really is a silly arse.
Chris Martin: I would have to say... a bit of a Silly Arse... if not a really silly arse... but a silly arse yea.
The man is a clutz.
'Have I...have I upset him?'
Was he asked about his wife again? If so, I'm with him on that. It seems to constantly confuse the papers that he doesn't want to discuss his private life. He shouldn't have to.
If, though, he was just asked about the price of cheese or something, then he's ... a silly arse.
Just about the themes on the new album, I think. And he just decided he wasn't enjoying himself and toddled off.
Daft moody bastard.
just abandoned poor old Will Champion (who sits a couple of rows in front of me at the football- nice bloke) to do the interview on his own.
He strikes me as a man at odds with himself. He clearly loves being famous- and I mean REALLY loves it, yet he is clearly genuinely uncomfortable with talking about his personal life. He has been seduced by the glitz and the glamour but he doesn't appear to be prepared to live with the downside of it, ie intrusion into his private affairs.
He also appears to be unhappy with his perception as a musician. His comments about Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros recently suggest that he aspires to the level of credibility that they have, but realistically you can't fill stadiums and still be considered cool by, well, the likes of DiS.
Poor old Chris.
and are considered pretty cool.
Coldplay are never going to be Radiohead.
so I don't know what he said about Arcade Fire - but if they bother him so much, why has he got the band dressing up in cobbled-together quasi military chic, and having Champion photographed playing with a big drum? Amongst other low resolution knock-offs of AF's persona.
I suspect all that bollocks about 'Jerusalem bells' is an attempt to be a bit more dramatic, but he just comes off as a self-important Diet Bono, and his voice lacks the gravitas to carry it off. It's too late anyway- once you've penned end-of-an-episode-of-Scrubs drivel like 'Fix You' it's going to be a big ask to claw back any sort of veneer of edginess.
He was bearable when he was whingeing about unrequited love on songs like 'Shiver' because it contained some genuine emotion, but somehow he has ended up batting well above his average.
...his voice REALLY doesnt work with crunchy guitars.
I wish they would fuck right off.
and say things we can't take back.
Like he's trying to be 'affected' in some way. He walked out of that other interview (was it in OMM?) recently too. None of it seems genuine to me. I mean, if you see the question he was being asked, there's literally no need to walk out
Definitely seems deliberate. I've noticed in recent interviews he's pretending to be awkward and uncomfortable but I'm not fallin' for it. He's cracking up! Seriously, what's wrong with him?
but has missed the point? Of being good?
