The Fall - New Face In Hell/Pavement - Conduit for Sale
All them Elastica/Wire/Stranglers ones
and Lust for Life?
Red Umbrella - Kostars / Kiss Me - Sixpence none the richer
from the second album, and Stop Crying Your Heart Out by Oasis.
God i hate jet.
Nickelback - How You Remind Me/Nickelback - Someday
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - Young Shields
we all must have seen this
cowcow got it first, but still... there is the link
should have read the thread
That's fucking hilarious!
there's a dandy warhols song that sounds exactly like an early Feeder song too, but i can't remember which ones
It is We Used To Be Friends by the DW and Day In Day Out by Feeder
in the end I think they ended up paying royalities to Cat Stevens as it sounded so similar!
Surely that's intentional?
You beat me to it!
actually believe how similar these melodies are!!
I really liked that Mystery Jets song as well.
DO you think they just saw the film and directly ripped it off??
How bizzare. How bizzare.
Pop goes my heart.
love ends disaster-ladders
Sonic Youth - Untitled
Modest Mouse - Blame It On The Tetons
(at least the main melodic riff)
is almost identical to placebo's lady of the flowers, i think its that placebo song , either way, it does!
Green Day - American Idiot
but now it's on the internet, i'm the one who's laughing
Smashing Pumpkins - Stand inside your love
The crowd at King Adora gigs used to even change the words when they played it.
me and my friend once accused a king adora of this in a nightclub, he said, naaah, its only the bassline and the chords...
it was the melody too. and the production. i dunno which i prefer now tho.
same beats and bassline as Rihanna's Please Don't Stop The Music.
EXACTLY THE SAME
have a song on their most recent album (no idea which track) which I swear at the start sounds exactly the same as Don't Look Back In Anger by The Oasiseses. Its alright.
to 'Imagine' anyway?
and The Chiffons - He's So Fine
I was gonna start a thread about New Face In Hell/Conduit For Sale. Although NFIH is quite similar "What Goes On" by The Velvet Underground.
Killing Joke's "Eighties" vs. Nirvana's "Come As You Are" (Well known that one)
The vocal line to "Echoes" by The Rapture is very similar to "Careering" by Public Image Ltd.
Less obvious but "Kiss of Life" by Supergrass sounds an awful lot like "Crosseyed and Painless" by Talking Heads.
and 'Mamma Mia' by Abba. I always get the two confused.
you're thinking of the right abba track?
and Roygbiv - Boards of Canada
Videotape - R-Head
Gyroscope - BoC
had dandy warhols "bohemian like you"/stones "black sugar" not got a mention?
See also: kerbdog's 'Earthworks' with Pearl Jam's 'Even Flow', a song off Bush's Golden State album that sound note for note like Smashing Pumpkins' 'Imploding Voice'
The Strokes Last Nite start exactly the same.
this is so true it's like radiohead slowed the track down and added vocals
to post that under the Radiohead BoC post
r-head - reckoner
sebastien tellier - la ritournelle
von bondies c'mon c'mon
good call...never noticed but yr right.
Sounds just like...
Coldplay's "Speed of Sound"
and greed by fugazi both have identical intros. but guy picciotto did produce the gossip...
What You Waiting For? by Gwen Stefani sounds just like the verse of Weezer's Hash Pipe
Doctor and the medics - Spirit in the sky.
god is on the radio also sounds a bit like spirit in the sky.
also rips off the chorus to Bleed The Freak by Alice in Chains.
plundered that Tom Tom Club song a few years back. the injustice.
Burn Burn is Killer by Adamski with more shouting
Warhols' We Used To Be Friends are used in an Irvine Welsh book. The songwriting credits are the 3 Feeder guys and the Dandys' singer. Maybe he heard Day In Day Out and decided he wanted to recycle it... lazy.
The intro to the Foos' All My Life sounds like a chugalug punk cover of Proclaimers' 500 Miles. To me anyway.
And the Jet/Iggy rip off is possibly the most infuriating thing ever when you're in a club.
is virtually the same as 'where is my mind' by the pixies. and there was a cooper temple clause song (promisies promises?) whose main riff was exactly the same as 'drunken butterfly' off "dirty". there's fucking loads, isn't there?
by the Smashing Pumpkins is a shittier Where Is My Mind too
just how blantant that cooper temple clause riff- steal is and yet at the time I don't remember anyone mentioning it.
i'd never heard drunken butterfly before. i just youtubed it and promises promises does sound just like it
Tom Jones - Deliah
and ELO - Hey Mr Blue Sky.
The Hoosiers are SHIT.
The intros are identical!
Also any Scouting for girls song...sounds like any other scouting for girls song.
tom petty - last dance with mary jane.
and camera obscura - number one son
especially the intros
imagine being chad kroeger
being a baby and wearing this
i bet it listens to animal collective
sounds a lot like All Day and All Night by The Kinks and it came out just a few months after it.
There's No Room for you here
Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground.
Also: Oasis- Hindu Times guitar riff similar to Stereophonics- Same Size Feet.
Pigeon Detectives - I Found Out sounds just like Some Kinda Hate by the Misfits. Also sounds kinda like Teenage Kicks. Then again Last Caress by Misfits sounds a bit like Blitzkrieg Bop by Ramones. Oh and I think that that Sugarbabes song, Push the button sounds like Last Christmas by Wham.
the verse for We Are The New Flesh IS We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel.
Sing along kids! "Harry Truman, Doris Day, Red China, Johnnie Ray..."
its fun to sing one song over another!
the Lemonheads version of Not the outdoor type.
'Worried About Ray' one by The Hoosiers (?), starts off exactly the same as the brilliant 'Happy Together' by The Turtles. Wankers.
towards the end of Get Behind Me Satan that starts off just like that horrible Ozzy & Kelly duet from a few years ago ('Changes'?)
by beyonce and that Chris brown song that is irreplceable by beyonce.
How come no one has mentioned the hoosiers and the cure?
U2 - Vertigo and Sonic Youth - Dirty Boots.
If you watch these then you need to take notice of the U2 track from 0:40.
SY - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igwCSA0Es9Y
U2 - http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JNV0AML1nUo&feature=related
to Dirty Boots and Trail of Dead's All Saints Day are well similar too.
Fucking bugs me.
The chorus is Dirty Boots and the verse is very similar to Bull in the Heather.
Glad I'm not the only one.
but the chorus of
The Vines - Get Free
and main riff of
U2 - Vertigo
there ye are right there.
is exactly the same, but nowhere near as good as, Heatwave by Martha and the Vandellas
sounds too much like House of the Rising Sun. And there's a bit in Elliott Smith's Bottle Up and Explode which sounds like God Only Knows by The Beach Boys.
is essentially the theme tune to 'Minder'.
and waiting game by the cooper temple clause
Sugababes "About You Now" vs. The Cribs "Don't You Wanna Be Relevant"
Hearsay "Pure & Simple" vs. Oasis "All Around The World"
Oasis "Mucky Fingers" vs. VU "I'm Waiting For The Man"
Any Strokes song vs. VU "I'm Waiting For The Man". Apart from that 12:51 song, which sounds like The Cars.
You can alternate singing each song pretty easily. In your head, folks.
Oasis "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" is just a slowed down version of "Slide Away".
= Jackie Wilson - Your Love Keeps Lifting me Higher
and Sonic Youth's 'Silver Rocket' are pretty dang close!
and 'Start' by the Jam.
and 'The Changeling' by the Doors.
the chorus borrows the melody of 'Velocity Girl' by Primal Scream.
Also, Hear Say - Pure and Simple, nicks the chord progression from All Around the World by Oasis.
However, chords progressions aren't copywritable, only melodies. Otherwise some bloke who invented the guitar hundreds of years ago would own every song!.
Raconteurs - Steady as she goes vs. Joe Jackson - Is she really going out with him?
"I'm waiting for my man" (is it even called that?) was blatently ripped off by Oasis in one of their many mediocre album teacks of recent times.
the venice ahoy song is an amalgamation hummer/cassius/red socks pugie
The Wedding Present.
They even had a t shirt printed which boasted 'All the songs sound the same' which I have, and I still love them dearly.
and the other Foals songs
Save Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry
by Weezer and The Diarrhea Song by primary school children, everywhere.
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - I-Spy / Escape The Fate - My Apocalypse
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - Tears of a Clown
sounds the same
Videotape - In Rainbows - Radiohead
Neon Bible - Neon Bible - Arcade Fire
by Super Furries is basically If You're Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands slowed down.
Also opening riff of Frightened Rabbit's Go Go Girls is ripped off Shocker In Gloomtown by GBV.
Time To Pretend by MGMT sounds exactly like Sleepy California by Her Space Holiday
any ting tings song with hey micky by toni basil
Coldplay's "Clocks" and Coldplay's "Speed of Sound" are exactly the same song... how'd they get away with this!!?
by LeAnn Rimes blatantly plagiarises Aqua's Barbie Girl. And both are terrible.
Flux=Rad by Pavement
and Juicebox by The Strokes
Men's Needs by The Cribs
and Patty Lee by LSF
Eddie & The Hot Rods - Do Anything You Wanna Do and the Records - Starry Eyes
cajun dance party - forgotten its name
dirty pretty things- gin and milk
the beginnings of "Nothing's Goin' On" by Dinosaur Jr. and "Ring A Ding Ding" by Brakes sound almost identical.
their recent single 'darling' sounds very similar to 'some weird sin' by iggy. not identical, mind...
hindu times [main riff] = stereophonics - [a riff from] same size feet
stereogram - walkie talkie sounds a lot like terrorvision - pretend best friend
the intros on all night disco party [brakes] and standing in the way of control are similar
