Sad news :(
far less festivals.
at least it sold more than 63 tickets. and didnt feature raging speedhorn
People thought it was some big expanding market that would just go on forever with the same 5 bands playing everywhere continuously
which is probably a direct result of the market being saturated.
Hopefully it means fewer, better festivals though. I'm also hoping for a drop in demand (this seems to be happening this year) which won't mean these sell out straight away...
even with The Whip headlining one day. The Whip! Headlining a festival!
The cojones of people who put on festivals is astounding this year. Even if you put aside those lost to the weather it was clear it was at cracking point at that level. So here for '08 come Hop On The Farm, Boosh Festival, Camp Bestival, Zoo Thousand, Lounge On The Farm...
rather than counting big boys?
pretty decent line-up and LOTS of dance so caters to a wide demographic, plus that USP is pretty awesome.
I do wonder about Camp Bestival, it's just down the road from me, but I don't really see what it offers that you wouldn't get at Bestival proper.
as every year for the last 4!
Was looking forward to that
it doesn't help with the weather stuff on the news all going on about floods and stuff either.
Festivals used to be special events, now they happen every other week.
and three on a sunday
I'd heard Blissfields was actually a really nice one as well, rather than one of the opportunistic mega-field-gigs that seem to have cropped up this year.
How a festival headlined by the Wonderstuff could not sell out.
Oh, hang on.
Phoenix 94' must seem a long time ago.
Its because last year it cost £30, this year it cost £60. It was an amazing community event that all my friends from back 'home' used to go to. But they doubled the ticket price, and look what happened. Shows why local festivals need to respect their communities.
and had to increase capacity as a result.
AND the ticket price went up? Perhaps THAT'S why people weren't buying tickets.
