I know what it is, but I'm not sure why it is an issue.
but indie-by-the-numbers named after a group executed for their anti-Nazi activities - seems rich. a song title or album title, yes, but actually as your band name. it just surprised me seeing them in another thread.
if anything it's a small tribute to what they did.
of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party
Movement of Jewish freedom fighters during the war.
Joy Division. Prostitution wing in a concentration camp.
See the theme?/influence?
my friend had the biggest crush on her.
when we saw them he got a picture of her and it was maybe the happiest day of his life to date.
and yes. white rose movement are genius.
my 12 year old sister has just got into them :D
white rose movement supporting someone. think it was the eighties matchbox b-line disaster. and they (white rose movement) were cack.
they weren't all that. still alright, but not good enough really.
mainly cos i was with a yorkshireman who thought they were named in tribute to his homeland...
and they where instantly forgetable and pretty rubbish ages ago.
They underwhelmed and the girl had stupid hair.
that used to be Arturo?
Never got into WRM, but Arturo had this great song called Former, which is possibly one of my all time favourites... Never saw them live or anything though.
and New Order are both much more potentially offensive Nazi-related names...
in so far as that ever since doing my History A-Levels I'd always felt it would make a great band name but I really do feel it could have gone to a better band (see Victorian English Gentleman's Club for another example of great band name/average indie band interface.)
It's probably preferable that your instant thought was a very worthy quasi-revolutionary historical movement that fought tyrrany and naked prejudice than a rather forgettable niche indie band.
