Green Day at T in the Park

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 50 replies 11:46, 11 July '05
Was watching the coverage last night on BBC with Edith Bowman and a Council house version of Colin Murray -all not too bad until they said they couldnt bring 'us' any Green Day as they refused to have any footage shown on telly as they were making a DVD

I dont like this band of branded cartoon US punk - now I just know they are probably more corporate than Fred Durst yet everyone for some reason thinks they are they have the political nous of Jello Biafra

  • Re: Green Day at T in the Park

Bloc Party saying they enjoyed playing with "Fatty Argos" in their interview was fucking hilarious.

Now I know you don't mean that.........They've had a lot of coverage lately, I don't blame them for wanting to tone it down a bit.

I don't think that was the point. They don't want to take sales away from the DVD they have coming out. If they were to allow themselves to be shown playing live on TV, then that would reduce sales.

They're perfectly entitled to do that though...

I don't see the fuss. Bands trying to make more money? OMG!!!

its not that its just the rather draconian way they go about it -lets face it like a lot of bands 'like' them they are purely a money spinning machine disquised as 'good time gonzo rock' or whatever - Next to them Limp Bizkit have the morals of Crass

I just mean.....they can do it if they want. They were never under contract to let themselves be filmed (well, presumably) and it's different from releasing singles, which obviously is about making money too, it just annoys me more.

The sound was atrocious from the T coverage I saw, perhaps they didn't want shit video footage which they had no control over coming out (insert - all video footage of GD is shit comment here if you like) I dunno, it just doesn't seem that big an issue to me that's all.

I liked your non put down phase prole or the times when you knock out good arguments against industry complacency/bands etc. That one was just cheap and not accurate. I'd rather Kele over Kaiser Chiefs any day. At least you can dance to it or block it out becomes a tired defence after a while(most used by the defence for the house of kaiser.)

I love Kaiser Chiefs. Although I am beginning to think I'm the only person, as I've yet to fail to be met with derision when I mention liking them; they're just great pop music.

Bloc Party are alright too, I suppose; but I'm less keen.

Didn't see either of them at T in the Park though. I was seeing something else.. Bright Eyes? Malcolm Middleton maybe?

Tracks like Helicopter, She's Hearing Voices and The Price of Gasoline are great, methinks. Tracks like So Here We Are and Banquet quite far from great. :-S

My favourite being "Mo<red>T</red>ors" for the car park. And then it has "Car Park" underneath in case noone had any idea what they were talking about. Although you really dont need a sign to know where the car park is anyway...

I think there was some coverage on bbc2, but that might just have been in scotland.
