...is amazing. Sunday at Devil Dirt is as good if not better as Ballad Of The Broken Seas - anyone else a fan?
i was considering buying this. better than Ballad you say?
i'm being a bit slack with album buying at the mo - got tickets to see them mind you. Yay and that.
Haven't listen to it yet as it wasn't a priority.
Not a very useful post I suppose...
Will report back later.
i dunno, i've just not gotten into it. it feels more like a mark lanegan solo album, but with the occasional isobel campbell coo replacing the occasional heavier song (well, i admit the only lanegan i've got is 'bubblegum', so...). i dunno, and ballad of the broken seas was a bit twee-r, a bit folkier and a bit lighter. still at least a 7/10 though
and I love the combination of their voices. They could release an album in which they both sing pi to 3000 decimal places to a stripped down guitar based accompaniment and I would lap it up.
So yeah - I think it's great but (so far and I've played it 3 times) not as grabbing as 'ballad'.
but it's got nothing on 'Nancy and Lee'
you can't beat a bit of Hazlewood and Sinatra!
I adored Ballad of the Broken Seas and so far I think this stands up as being equally as impressive, lots and lots of Lanegan, not a bad thing though really. Need to give it a few more listens to decide on it. Excellent so far!
Both records are awesome and I love them both but the way Lanegan and Campbell's voices act as a counterpoint is even more apparent.
good............ Come on Over indeed......
A bit boring after 2 listens...
Will try harder...
