What are the best bands on your local scene?
Plus any poss links to check em out.
(think thats right!!??)
two bands are ace!
some bands that are local to me are end the agony and the sticks.
just myspace them :)
when are they going to record stuff properly?!
well, july/august, depends who you talk to. the downfall of having many members in many other bands.
more farnborough (that sort of way) based, rather than Hove? I know crowns on the rats all at uni down there, are Pluto too? Havent seen them in ages, they were really good last time I saw them.
i may of cheated, i'm actually from fleet. so hence my addition of the pluto, but crowns on the rats all live down here now, as do i. i also cheated by just bigging up my friends :(
theyre both good bands, and theres nothing wrong with bigging up your mates bands if theyre good, and those 2 are!
I've only see crowns... once but I really liked it. A step aside from Hikikomori.
this is my local scene! (sort of)
but theyre ace compared to the rubbish that comes from Southampton, plus I use to travel a lot of shows (around farnborough, guildford, aldershot and webridge, etc) so I almost count them as local too!
eagleowl from edinburgh
they are very good
Shield Your Eyes myspace.com/leavethetapesrunning
The Shitty Limits
Wow! Pigeon Eyes
second monday www.myspace.com/secondmonday
Are statisticly the best band in the area if you count sales and air play... but I don't belave that counts. So here ya go...
breakbeat/breakcre/drum'n'base noise fest.
DJ poducer and good lad who works in a kitchen, who makes hip-hop cut up stuff.
....the !@*: http://www.myspace.com/suckmycom
Some kinda grindcore/breakcore stuff from both of them two together yeah?
Ambient maddness from some one I cant rember who, to many random names...
Jasper Leyland: http://www.myspace.com/jasperleyland
A guy I knew from school who makes really nice ambient stuff... that isn't acctualy his name.
The Undulating Sonic Ape Explosion:
mine and a mates abandoned joke band so shit but still maybe better than...
One Night Only: no link found....honest....
They use to practice in our village hall and I use to think wow their pretty rubbish at least I will never have to hear them again... on my way to te spar to buy a mars bar... how wrong was I...
thats the music in my litte village in the middle of know where.

from Cornwall - www.myspace.com/lonorecords
Organized Confusion: http://www.myspace.com/organizedconfusionderry
...Sir Yes Sir rule
Fighting With Wire
are brilliant live!
yes they are
I LOVE My Disco. Such an ace band. Melbourne seems to have a pretty swish music scene.
Sounds really nice. I think I saw Fabulous Diamonds supporting My Disco when I was in Melbourne a few years back. I didn't think much of them then and I'm still not convinced by their recordings on myspace. I really hope we get to play over in Oz soon. Really like it over there.
Hollywood Porn Stars
William Douglas and the Wheel
Aaron Wright & The Aprils
That there band named after baby horses (no link necessary).
Theo (although technically Worcester now)
that's about it really. Although I haven't really heard any new local bands in a while.
This Town Has Guns? no thats not it... needs guns? I dunno ;)
but they're pretty rubbish.
but I'm well lame.
you must be if you like those losers ;-P
cheeky hehe :-p
The Heebie Jeebies, The Dick van Dykes (RIP)
Mob Rules - Incredible Flag influenced Power Violence. Ex Mock Heroic/Tigers...
Everything else is pretty dull right now. The Wedding Present?
Kasabian. Thank god I moved up north.
What happened to Mock Heroic then? They split? Not heard anything of them in ages.
Pretty much straight after their album came out.
Conor now does Mob Rules and Shittalker, Ralph does Sceptres, and I'm not sure Jop or Tom do anything at the moment.
shittalker back gigging again matt?
Me and Steve are busy with Held By Hands, Conor likewise with Mob Rules.
well i can't complain with that. i will be catching held by hands live in brighton next month.
red stars parade
Deal With It
That Fucking Tank (esp. live)
not seen them yet.
but playing in London alot
who said Hot Bone and Sir Yes Sir speaks the truth. Believe.
so i'm going to say: www.myspace.com/foolishhit and that's it. but they are AMAZING which more than compensates for the whole lack of local bands.
also day for airstrikes...
Rolo Tomassi, Rotary Ten, The Situationists, Pygmy Globetrotters, and probably a few more that have slipped my mind.
doing a new band in Sheffield and I might call them The Oiled Standards now.
Smokers Die Younger
Slow Down Tallahassee
The Bon Bon Club
between us we rule the Sheffield music scene!!
These are damn good bands from Sheffield:
The Ape Drape Escape
Darlings of the Splitscreen
i keep hearing good things about Green Man Says Go but i haven't seen them yet, can anyone else in Sheffield back up these claims?
are from sheffield i think
and are great.
and if ur a pure cunt - glasvegas (yawn)
Stig Noise Soundsystem
Shit The Bed
my device - brighton deffo
thats how, for now.
Rather fond of these guys, they replace a DFA1979 shaped hole in my life: http://www.myspace.com/japandroids
Don't forget Fuck Buttons for Worcester....
one went to my old school (Chantry), and the other is from Kidderminster, went to King's. Met them a few weeks back so I found this out. Went to Uni in Bristol I think and relocated to London now.
are brilliant. Saw them destroy the tyne last week. An audience of middle-aged geordies were distinctly unimpressed.
MY AMIGA: www.myspace.com/myamiga
ELLE S'APPELLE: www.myspace.com/ellesappelleband
I wish I lived in Liverpool!!!
Call me biased as they're all buddies of mine, but I love...
www.myspace.com/actionbeat - cheating slightly because their technically from bletchley and not mk either ways glorious improvised noise rock
http://www.myspace.com/ourmaninthebronzeage - widescreen pelican esque post metal
www.myspace.com/themodusvivendi - noisy jagged dischord influenced post hardcore
www.myspace.com/chichampions - mathy rowdy, scream powered guitar music
www.myspace.com/thedukeofzuke - beautiful loop and guitar based ambience
these guys, http://www.myspace.com/fellsilent
plans and apologies - www.plansandapologies.com
you animals - www.myspace.com/youanimals
my psychoanalyst - www.myspace.com/mypsych
the little explorer are excluded for having DAYS left to live.
Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire
New Vinyls are pretty good as well
i think a few people have heard them on here
kinda local, south shields
True Swamp Neglect
Oh My Word! are my fav local band at the moment... kind of like the Mighty Boosh one step left from comedy into music.
and Slow Club are excellent, but I guess they're bigger than local (only heard em for the first time a couple of weeks ago too)
Other than that, I like Smokers and Slow Down Talahassee of the bands mentioned above
Chuck are ace too... havnt seen them play for a couple of years though.
soo so thanks for these!
colt 45s www.myspace.com/thecolt45smusic
santiago was my old band but we split up in september www.myspace.com/santiagouk (buy an album? only £2.50!)
(10 times better live than recorded)
That's it, in a town of over 50,000 people, there's 1 good band
Well, there's the obvious ones like Frightened Rabbit (even though none of them are from Glasgow) and Twilight Sad (much closer, but not really Glasgow, but Glasgow swallows everything around it). And Dananana...
Less obvious ones:
Diamond Sea: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=44576290
And since I can't resist a bit of blatent JAGing of an afternoon:
We aren't one of the best though.
REVEREND AND THE MAKERS
And yes, this is a very, very bad state of affairs :(
less indie windy bands, i find that the challenge for me with UK music scene it all seems soo pie and chips. I want to believe theres something more rock orientated less guy that is skinny nerd rock out there thou . Not biker dudes thou, just rock.
They're from Bristol.
Meet Me In St Louis, right? Am I right about that?
and no pasaran
And I've only been there twice.
are fae the 'ness like.
i <3 shutter. we spooned all the way down to atp in our bus, then boshed the weekend away.
They are dead good, mind.
The Display Team
The Kill Raimis
at least 25 excellent indie bands/artists in Leeds.
I might list them with links/brief descriptions tonight.
the holy orders and the seagulls
as they're moving here.
Die! Die! Die!
Earth Defence Force - shit name, great band
Maniac and the Circus on the Moon
First are hardcore, second are just, I dunno, sadist fops.
About the only band from Southampton I like (that I'm not in).
I always liked Oxfam Glamour Models & The Velterelles from your part of the world, are they still kicking about?
It's 'considered' to be The LP.
I think they're shite, mainly because they dicked my mate around when he was auditioning for them and well, the songs are shite also!
they're on myspazz, guess the address...it's worth it :)
