Wow. Been listening to this album for the first time today. Absolutely amazing. Anyone else a fan?
all the way for him since Brookside finished!
Just been listening to it again. Honestly, with the stuff you've mentioned in this thread, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't love this record. Check it out.
I love almost everything he did.
I prefer the songs he wrote with the Byrds. Triad, Dolphin's Smile, Draft Morning, What's Happening!?!?!? etc.
His harmony voice is what makes Eight Miles High so special. And his lovely little face and his cape. He used to look so great. Then he got a beard and suddenly turned into the lion from the Wizard of Oz.
I got a CSNY album and its not the best. Its very 70s. Some moments of pure genius, some real cheddar.
GET ONE OF THE BYRDS ALBUMS WITH HIM ON.
I wish I knew more Byrds fans :(
to CSNY as well. But this album, as ElasticMan says up there^, just seems to encapsulate the whole 60s San Francisco counter-culture perfectly. Made even more poignant as it was released in 71 when the movement was dying/already dead.
I thought Crosby might have been a fan of stinking cheese, because I saw this youtube of him just when I was getting into The Byrds which put me off him for life almost:
The Byrds are my favourite band at the mo though. But with Crosby in particular I'm inclined to just blindly accept everything he did as genius.
Everyone apparently hates Mind Gardens on Younger Than Yesterday, but I think its one of the best things I've ever heard.
