Do you think you should have been at a gig to buy a poster for it, or is that irrelevant if you like the band?
What if someone saw it, said "Oh, I like them, were at that one?", and you're left there looking like a pleb mouthing how you didn't and just wanted the poster - not a little poseur-ish at all??? DAMN IT WHAT ABOUT THAT?
As long as you like the band I think it's acceptable. If you've never heard any of their music and are just buying it to look cool, that's different. In which a case, you're a cock.
* Disclaimer: You = not *you*
beautiful tom waits, shins and mark lanegan posters framed on my wall from australian tours....they just have some great one-off artwork for gigs over there thats sadly lacking in the uk.
so, obviously i wasnt at those gigs but hell i love those bands/artists and the posters are gorgeous.
I've got one from Radiohead in Nimes and The Shins New Zealand tour - sadly wasn't at either but both acts firmly in my top 5.
If I really like the band I'll usually buy a t-shirt.
or that's how I see it at least. Especially when it's bands who don't have posters stocked in Zavvi.
the artwork plays a huge part?
If you love the band and the poster is well designed, then i don't see any problem.
If you've got a picture of Kurt or Ian Curtis on your wall then that's a little more weird.
but I'd be more likely to buy a Radiohead one than a.. Les Savy Fav one or something.
