ive read a review of this in q, i didnt even know it exists.....isnt a vines best of a tad unnneeded??
but they were reeally good.
the first two albums are crackers good.
abit 'b sidey' in places
vision valley i think its called
I still really really like the first two albums. though. there's some great stuff on them.
it's because they were dropped / split from EMI and they're totally geared towards raking in the cash.
plus, they have a new album out soon so by putting this out now the very fact that the band will be back in the spotlight anyway will be free promotion for the best of.
Totally geared towards making money, which is why Craig did exactly what nobody wanted him to do on Winning Days, and went psychedelic.
The Vines are almost perfect.
Basically, he had one of two directions to take, and he took the one the media wanted him to leave.
If you appreciate actual music, you appreciate Winning Days as being home to some seriously fucking mind-blowing music.
If you're one of these people who's not going to be that bothered about music when they reach 30, then yeah, its pretty crap.
Craig Nicholls is one of the few young actually talented musicians in the public eye.
"seriously fucking mind-blowing music"
I think its a southern thing. You don't even dare consider something if its been panned by the powers that be, and the music you lot are into has to have some sort of blatant message.
they're pretty good. I haven't heard Vision Valley yet.
Basically, EMI just said 'give us more Get Frees or fuck off', so they did an album full of naff shouty 2 minute shit.
But the title track and about 3 others are near-amazing and must be acquired. The ones that aren't full of screaming are very very decent.
and the band complied with it, and are still super cool with you?
SO MANY LEVELS OF NONSENSE
sounds like they gave 'em more Get Frees all right!
was about EMI, not The Vines.
it's unethical to release a CD with no songs on it?
As I'm someone who isn't submerged in the music 'scene''/any music 'scene''...to me, this is the equivalent of bringing out a selection of 'Richard Blackwood Greatest Hits''. Which I'm defiantely going to pre-order.
They dropped The Thrills after they released a perfect album. Cunts.
They killed my budgie.
they dropped The Thrills!
It doesnt bring Bertie back to life.
Little beaky blighter.
No head is what eventually done him in.
shocking dismissal of the Thrills.
the other two albums have some moments but are hardly modern classics.
