Your birmingham tips last week were brill so I thought I'd try again for my next work trip. Any recommendations?
And also there's a good collectors record shop at the bottom of the Royal Mile which is good for a laugh/nostalgia but also seems to sell compilations of every Festive 50 from the past 30 years :D
just off Nicolson street, hill place possibly. Its a small shop rammed with vinyl so only go in if you know what you want, its not the best for browsing. But it does have everything.
It's amazing, records from ceiling to floor - just like that shop DJ Shadow visits in Scratch. If you go in for a browse set some time aside, and be prepared for heavy lifting. The owner will tell you where anything is as well.
Avalanche is ok - not a huge selection of vinyl, but they are nice.
Underground Solushn, also on Cockburn St is good for electronic stuff.
Unknown pleasures is the one I think Commandercoll is referring to - not went in too often to comment, but there seems to be no filter on the quality of artist.
Also good is the oxfam record shop on the bridges - just round from Backbeat, and back towards princes street.
i always got the feeling the staff look down their noses at me. but they do have a lot of good stuff so i forgive them for being indie as fuck. seeing as i would TOTALLY do the same thing. i tried to do it in hmv but it just meant i was sneering all day
Looks like I'll be busy
