I actaully find it really hard to choose....I love them all.
Penance Soiree>Mono>Black Lives
which a lot of people don't. Slayer is a really atypical Icarus Line song, but great anyway.
Mono has the attitude. Penance Soiree has more swagger...
over and over and over again! Your assessment is accurate.
I remember a PF review going something like, "If rock 'n roll was all about attitude then IL would be the greatest fucking band ever. Oh, wait a minute. Rock 'n roll is all about attitude and IL is the greatest fucking r 'n r band ever." Brilliant.
whats a good place to start?
Mono was a little more lo-fi.
If you add me on MSN I'll send you a track?
i'll pm my address or something
you can check out Slayer vid here:
It's kinda a promotional video for the joys of heroin whilst living in Silverlake....
But Penace Soiree is the best imo. Up Against The Wall Motherfucker has the coolest bassline ever.
guy in the video looks a lot like bernard butler. cool song.
..it's not really grabbed me yet. I bought a stupid amount of albums in a short space of time and this one got left behind a bit.
I had it for about 6 months before its grimy goodness seeped in and it suddenly became amazing within the space of two listens.
I wasn't that taken with the tracks I heard from Penance Soiree to be honest. Not much can beat the opening barrage that is 'Love Is Happiness' though.
Though it's maybe one or two tracks too long, is the aceness, it just sounds filthy. The drums are quite relentless... a pounding even in the quieter moments.
