i was right at the front. on the left side pew things.
be nice to people with lice.
My friend was the one that requested 'be nice to people with lice.'
violence was annoying.
if it was someone from here i take that back of course.
someone should have requested Words or Over The Ocean
quite hott though.
i was spellbound.
for the entire set
low low low low low low
boots with the fur
the whole club was lookin at her
she hit the flo, next thing u kno
i was the guy.
ITS JAMIE SUMMERS FROM THE INTERNET!
'YOU'RE JAMIE SUMMERS FROM THE INTERNETS'
and given me a thrill.
That alone left me feeling absurdly happy.
they seemed very tense & nervous especially early on, which was a bit strange as they have played the Union Chapel before. Alan Sparhawk seemed a lot more withdrawn and disconnected than on previous occasions.
i want tense painful mournful horrific emotion
it was just different compared to previous Low gigs. The dark cloud only lifted when Alan played his song about lice.
who showed me and my broken leg to the empty pews?
If so hai!
if he was bald then it would have been another atp person. if not then it would have been a union chapel person.
I thought that Mimi was really annoyed with Alan but it made it quite funny at times. She kept giving him really exasperated/dirty looks. I bet he'd forgotten to hang out the washing or something. Brilliant, brilliant gig now - third time I've seen them at Union Chapel and it *is* their home.
I wonder if he'll pass his probation once Alan and Mimi see the tapes. He does jiggle around and throw what can only be called shapes an awful lot. You would never see Zak or the last lad do that sort of thing.
And I am always grateful - nice one, mattkjdfk
although murderer wasnt nearly as spine tingling as I was expecting, and I didnt like anything involving drum machines or pre recorded loops (I dont go to a low gig to hear sound), but yeah when theyre good theyre amazing, shame there was no over the ocean
with what you weren't brave enough to say. Are they past it? Why won't he let Mimi sing more?
Low was always best when Mimi sang.
Is it really necessary to have:
a) fucking drum machines, or
b) guitar solos.
Ego killed Low.
Let's not let Low evolve their sound at all. Alan should only ever play four chords.
And Mimi sang plenty. Alan has always been the "lead" vocalist on most songs.
I always admired how little they evolved in the past
That was as flawless a set I have seen them perform. Absolutely at the top of their game.
or did they play 'Sandinista' to a loop of the intro to 'Ohio' by Crosby Stills Nash & Young?
If so, fuck this naysaying about using samples. That was brilliant.
Mrs. Doom isn't a fan of low in the slightest, and even she was impressed.
Also, was it just me or did anyone else have an itchy head after the lice song?
the pews hurt my bum though :(
I should have said hello but was in hangover hell and wasn't very chatty.
haha, don't worry, i was with my girlfriend and she's scared enough that i know people from the internet after taking her to rota :D
but yes, say hello next time!
your girlfriend. i felt bad after for not saying proper 'hi i am jamie', but then its your fault for being bad boyfriend. INTRODUCTIONS ARE YOUR JOB.
plus i thought you had met before to be honest. oh, you replying to me just reminded me i need to book train tickets! (i swear i don't just see the words "ATP" tattooed on your forehead, honest :D)
does she post on here?
i'm sure you met somewhere before...
top, top gig. beautiful surroundings, beautiful acoustics, beautiful songa, beautiful singings.
except they didn't play 'monkey','california' or 'everybody's song' but you can't have everything in life.
Murderer was an incredible opener and from that point on they had me transfixed. Great set and I'm continually amazed by just how beautiful the mesh of their two voices is. So happy they closed with Last Snowstorm Of The Year as well.
did they play shame and last snowstorm :(
I have a spare ticket for Retribution Gospel Choir tomorrow evening.
Anyone want it?
got a ticket for that thinking it was Low playing an extra date. He fails, massively.
the requests at the end were quite amusing.
My friend wanted to sit right at the front, so luckily we go there before doors opened, and we ended up in front in the middle pew.
It was such a good show. I particularly enjoyed the way that Mimi could rein in Alan just by a glance.
or at least he was on the guestlist...but i left after a bit to go watch so dont know if he turned up
but I was right in front of Alan Sparhawk, so I just watched him instead!
are two words I wouldn't use to describe last night. The Spitz and Primavera last year were and I'm sure some of you who have posted above were at those gigs. I love the band but they certainly seemed (to me) to be going through the motions last night. That said 'Murderer' was great.
but man, he had SOME MOVES ON HIM
he played really well and had a really great "feel" for the songs and accentuated the dynamics really ell. Thought he was great - and he must have been working very hard to learn their back catalogue as he seemed very relaxed during the encore when everyone demands their favourite song - I say well done that man!
with his crazy horse footstomps.
Any one know what alan said that prompted mimis "so not cool" mutter
Alan was asking if anyone had any marijuana for a couple of people in the entourage.
that had 'mercy' in the chorus and was quite funky? was that the new song?
I'd be so grateful for the mp3 - pleeeeease :)
for one they played my favouritest low song - little argument with myself - which i was thinking if i would shout out a request that woud be it...
Basically great gig :)
one more ask for the lice song - anyone have it? It would really make my day :)
