Acid Mothers Temple + Ruins + Makoto Kawabata
also pink lady lemonade, wild gals a go go
PS Save The Point!
That Pataphysical... album is ace. Especially the first and last tracks. Blue Velvet Blues is quite similar to Les Rallizes Denudes. But more miserable. Univers Zen...(can't remember the rest) is a good record too. Kawabata's old band Mainliner are more straightforward and less wacky. The other sideprojects are often good too. I like them better than AMT. Tsurubami and Kawabata solo are definitely worth hearing.
surprisingly consistent, but over-prolific. I've got quite a few of their albums, and almost all are good and would function as a perfectly good intro to the band, but they're too prolific to ever produce a consistently great album.
Some possible start points:
La Novia - their other "classic" track. Album is just a 45min version of this plus a couple of bonus tracks
Do Whatever You Want - 3CD compilation of AMT and side projects. CD1 is an hour-long version of Pink Lady Lemonade
Absolutely Freak-out - 2CDs of side-long jams, all good.
Born to be Wild in USA - not the best quality live recording, but contains all their classic tracks at easy-to-swallow lengths.
stones women records (i love that album as its super silly!)
just another band from the cosmic inferno...
AMT are the best live band of all time.
i was at that one too. I had to hold onto the barrier as I'd sprained my ankle playing the dance machine!
The pain was worth it though. I got big hugs from Damo Suzuki...i wish he was my grandad...
Joined them on stage when they played in London last Autumn too. Was pretty amazing.
Always great live - they're playing in their Acid Mothers Temple SWR guise on tour in the UK this month, and apparently coming back over in the Summer as Acid Mothers Temple and the Cosmic Inferno.
version of AMT...
they were great when I saw them in the Brumland. twas an almost perfect gig!
you can start pretty much anywhere. my favourite is "univers zen ...." though - anything they did with cotton casino is a winner. that mainliner record is an absolute belter too - heavy and fuzzy assfuck.
are amt touring again then? where/when and all that?
