I've never listened to them but I would like to.
Somebody suggest a good jumping off point for me.
would be my first choice!
the best ever album to listen to past 3am
it's very good. Buy that.
Or the 3CD Prisoners of Love best of. That's actually a really great best of, because as great as YLT are, they are a bit overproductive which means the quality control often suffers.
I'd also recommend the newie " I'm Not Afraid Of You and I Will Beat Your Ass". The opening track is awesome.
"And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out" is supposedly another classic, but it's a bit too quiet and understated for me. Still good though.
theyre amazing amazing.
tears are in your eyes
season of the shark
our way to fall
prisoners of love is so good, but listen to i am not afraid of you. most underrated band ever.
i've literally just started listening to them for the first time now. Working my way through 'painful' and liking it so far
though i'm the only person in the world who'll say that, i bet. mainly cause it's the album that got me into them
i can hear the heart beating as one's a very good bet too
is indeed the best place to start. The first time I listened to that album was an absolutely jawdropping experience. After that probably go with Painful and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out.
suggest the most recent album but in this case...
I am not afraid of you and I will kick your ass
it is amazing - huge huge variety of songs: 10 min plus rock outs, piano ballads etc etc. Check it out.
I feel it lacks something as an album because its not really cohesive at all. Also, the piano ballads on that album are almost exclusively annoying. I think in going for a 'mixtape' kind of feel they didn't play to their strengths enough.
all too often it means - 'all the songs sound the same'. I love the way there is such variety on that album. And I love the piano songs.
Differences of opinion are fab.
and they're a bit boring...
I shall go forth and investigate.
I think I'm going to go with 'I can hear the heart beating as one'.
Let us know how you fare.
or 'Deeper Into Movies' or the rock version of 'Today Is The Day' or 'Tom Courtenay', Yo La Tengo would possibly be my favourite band in the world ever. Alas, it doesn't :(
