opinions? listening to it for the first time now. sounds sparse, but have only heard seven seconds
but i didn't think much of the new single.
Haven't heard any more of the new one but i understand its 18 songs long. Is that true?
6 smaller songs called 'harmonies'
track 2-slow acoustic countryish number
track 3-fast electric countryish number.
its good, but its not 'plaque' good
i'm listening to the songs in the wrong order.
haha theres another going around in the right order.
i like it but i agree his voice is gone a bit.
but also I still haven't heard Amazing Grace so i can't really compare it to that
lastfm just messed up
on this one
Are there any heavily orchestrated songs?
DON'T START A THREAD ON IT WHEN YOU'VE ONLY HEARD 7 SECONDS. And even when you've heard a few tracks, don't make comments like "not plaque good" because HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW? Give it a chance before forming your opinion (it might actually give you something to say as well)
Yes, we're all very impressed that you're listening to it now, but please refrain from making a thread until you've got an opinion. Ta
that first bit was obviously in good humour, and the second was a simpsons quote.
what's immature about genuinely disliking the leak culture we have on DiS? Every single thread where some bugger says "just listening to it now for the first time, good but not great" makes me die a little bit inside. It seems focussed around "hey look at me, i got there first" but my main issue isn't with the early adopter smuggism. My main issue is that such threads provide so little in the way of insight (since no-one concerned has lived with the album for any length of time) as well as containing a fair number of stone-clad opinions of the like described above. And unfortunately, these tend to be the only places where albums get any attention, since everybody's moved on to something else by the time the album comes out
I'd normally bite my tongue (or else i'd be arguing with people all day) but then i don't care about most of the bands which get talked about in such a way. Here i made an exception
However, I've just listened to the first 3 seconds. Sounds like an Electric Mainlines/Amazing Grace crossover to me but is lacking some of the immediacy of the latter and the spacey groves of the former.
A huge disappointment!
Seconds 4 to 137 are very nice indeed.
i asked for opinions (infact that was the first word of the post) which obviously highlights my own lack of insight straight away?
and why would it matter whether i said it was "good not great" or fantastic, or shit?
Because your careless words could cause Jason Spaceman to get lynched in the streets. Thats why!
if you and a few other people said something was shit then people on the cusp of listening to it might decide to pass, and people who'd never heard of it before might do the same. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. It's the nature of the meeja-engorged internet world we live in. But if you and all those people had given it one passing listen before bestowing their judgement, then it might be said (by me) that your and their opinion isn't worth a fucking thing
And you know, why bother asking for an opinion when you're just listening to it for the first time? If it was a "should i go out and buy it today" opinion question then i might understand, but you've got it there right now. Just listen, form an opinion for yourself, and post a thread about it later if you want. I can't really see the point of asking us what we think is in these circumstances, other than to show off/self-validate
Many albums are now talked more months before their release after one or just a few listens than after their release. And I hate that too.
Remember when everyone seemed to rave about the new Beach House. Who's talking of it now that it is released...
BUT Jordan did ask for opinions ( obviously of people who had listened to it more than him ) instead of giving any judgement and so you might have accused the wrong person...
