.....My Latest Novel/Sons and Daughters?
Why does this happen anyway???? Is this the producers fault?
'great live bands that don't sound as good when recorded live'
It can be the producers fault, but more often it's the band unable to recreate their energy in alien surroundings and playing 'cold'. Zappa used to record all his backing tracks live because he reckoned musicians always gave their best in front of an audience. Makes sense.
Sons and Daughters sound bad on record, but there is definetly something missing - the records just don't have that power, that kick that they have live.
There's been some great stuff recorded on two tracks when the band just went in a recorded more or less live.
and the fact that is can be difficult.
the best live band ive ever seen
If so, I've seen sons and daughters around 10 times live. I'm a creature of habit, me!!
Your answer is also appreciated though.
and was going to call you a lucky bastard for seeing them live.
sounds really good, the album less so. And I haven't bothered with the second one so far.
Different producers though.
after Mellon Collie, if Billy and Co could make an album with the same energy, rawness and bombast as they play live, instead of going for the over produced sound.
Absolutely LOVE them live but still struggle to listen to much of their recorded stuff.
was recorded live in the Brudenell
the noisestar session sounds good
hopefully the new LP will sound good too
