I shall be listening to Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain which I got last night. Join me on this voyage of discovery!
What's that squeaky noise in the background? Oh it's stopped now
I'm more of a Urusei Yatsura fan, who by all accounts are just Pavement MK II, so I've bypassed the middleman and cut straight to the chase...
I liked it
you should have saved it for tonight, made it a real DiS event (a la secret radiohead gig and that channel five film).
enjoy the album.
Good, i like the reprise bit, I love a reprise
best song ever?
but Gold Soundz is better!
I don't know the choronology of it all.
off amazon the other day after re-reading Love is a Mixtape. It better be as good as I am anticipating.
But I like the picky bit in the middle/end
Cut Your Hair is it? This is ace!
A thrash your hand around the guitar bit. I love those!
FAVOURITE ALBUMS EVER.
Where are you up to now?
Man they love a false start don't they.
This song is merely alright, a bit of a low after the last song was so ace
Anyone out there not heard 'In the Aeroplane' and want to give us a ball-by-ball on their thoughts on hearing it for the first time?
the other day as you lot go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it. Then I read it's:
"a collection of songs inspired by events in World War II and particularly about treatment of Jews and Anne Frank." and decided against it. Sorry.
Because the lyrics are so bizarre you only know that really if you're told about it
on your head be it.
It's one of my fave ever albums. It's lovely
Yeah, this is tops. Bop bop bop
They should've had a song like this after Cut Your Hair
fo sho. Actually wait, as I wrote that I remembered Filmore Jive
Oh this has come from the left field a bit innit
(which, as we all know, was in 4/5 time)
Back to the jangle
are elegant bachelors.
I like this
a favourite of mine on crooked rain. Very summery.
Heaven's A Truck
there's no one in my office so ive got my ipod out and listening along. Filing can wait! Heaven is a truck is an interesting one.
I'm 50/50 on that one
Oh this is good. I like the bassy dun dund dun der dun dun dun dundun der
This sounds like they didn't know how to end it
Why everyone said 13 by Blur was ripping off Pavement. Yes. Yes it was.
they're both ripping off the Fall. plane down is that albums total unforgiveable fall ripoff.
and therefore I'd say the weak point of the album
I was worried it was going to be rubbish, I hate it when bands don't make proper ending songs on albums and they just have noise
That guiatr bit was the sex
Take me home
I might make it a regular thing
Not all the songs worked I felt. I love a reprise but sometimes I think they over used it.
I also felt that some of the songs didn't carry on the flow, and made it disjointed.
It was going to be an 8/10 with the indication that this would improve with more listens, but Fillmore jive was SO awesome it goes into 9/10.
is THE very best Pavement there is.
They got spikes.
on my aural to-do list for sometime now...listening to Pavement that is...where should I start?
Thanks for the accompaniment!
This has been the best thread on the music board for months.
apart from maybe the George Pringle one.
But I think I might make it a regular thing
with Let It Be by the Replacements yesterday. It was ACE.
in the last couple of weeks, how good Crooked Rain really is...Stop Breathing mmmmm.
Boring, country pastiche.
Malkmus is dissing the Smashing Pumpkins! Kim Deal's got him spot on.
