Bit harsh eh? I haven't heard the album but I always thought they were a fairly decent band.
it is a very generous mark
on E4 for the first time and it was pretty terrible. i've heard some good things about the album though.
There are some pretty weak moments on it though.
Going to see them tonight
but they'd still be a Pitchfork band
what are DiS giving it?
A review is basically someone's opinion and clearly they like DIOY, Y? less than you do. Probably a shame for them but it's still just an opinion nonetheless.
but I don't see why this means it can't be discussed?
ive heard pitchfork works like in a strange way, for various political, business reasons... the man in charge says... "this album deserves x.x mark.....reviewer...write a review geared around this mark" ....
the editor wants the the 'magazine' to be consistent in some way but I doubt it's quite that cynical.
It would certainly only apply to a minority of records/reviews anyway.
seems quite harsh but even so they are a bit crap and have appeared at the right time really.
they are brilliant for dancing too.
awesome live too
so you remember that you've seen them now?
but it still made me laugh.
simply because they have a song called 'lets make out'.
and the fact that they're terrible and have an equally as crap name.
is the best we're gonna get i think
like an even shitter Klaxons?
They are god awful and more crap bands should be torn a new one.
I quite liked them when I stumbled across their myspace about a year ago, but I can't even listen to the album. It's pretty woeful, and sounds really cheap
does that score offend you, yeah?
so probably a better mark than expected.
they are RUBBBBIIISSSHHH man!
i quite like the song "we are rockstars".
This has probably been said, but, huh, who cares.
I would give that overly long titled album a 4 at most.
just for their fucking stupid name, the pricks.
I'd have awarded it the 'monkey pissing in its mouth' mark.
the album is a bit rubbish!
I think Pitchfork are again trying to be too clever
I would have gone 2.4
For what its worth (not very much) im in the minority that really likes this album. Go me...
own music may be a bit poo, but has anyone heard/got the mix they did for XFM? It's AMAZINGGGGG!
we are rockstars is pretty 'spesh! The NME like them which is probably why Pitchfork hate them. Indie fascists. x
They are the Electric Six of nu-rave.
But that Rockstars song is a cracker.
of 'bad review mark' and 'comparison to Gay Dad' does not compute.
despite a few hiccups like the singer being.... not that great a singer... they were very good.
but not by much. Apart from the old songs before the record label told them to sell records by getting a singer, it is a pretty terrible collection of 'indie + synths = cool' bollocks.
