and it also sounds like a Statistics song
Are they pre-Walkmen? I want to go back and see Casiotone, and tell him "Hey, did you know that your only good song is a rip-off of somebody else's?"
Statistics- Leave Your Name (album) 2004
he used to be in Desparacidos.
he's also responsible for - hands down - the worst live show I've ever seen.
And will happily give a full account
"When I say holler, you say caust!"
singing the Cha Cha Slide song in my head. :(
record is ace!
Statistics is Denver Dailey from Desaperacidos
criss cross, criss cross
however, I suspect you are wrong, because 'Young Shields' and 'The Rat' are actually the same song.
if you speed up 'young shields' to give it a more frantic sound, it could sound like 'the rat'. but, they also have a semi-similar lyrical theme (perhaps)...
'young shields': "sent a letter to mom & dad/ mom & dad the money's running out/ got a letter from mom & dad/ they didn't send me anything"
'the rat': "you've got a nerve/ to be asking a favour/ you've got a nerve to be calling my number"
if you look at the lyrics as coming from a "the barefaced cheek of it!" type of sentiment. although, i think 'young shields' is more about the selfish and self-destructive nature of the modern youth, while 'the rat' seems to be more about bitterness and betrayal.
idk idk idk
but hardly a rip off.
