then aye. I shelled out 50 quid for Radiohead =/
but i do really really like them... i cant decide whether it will be good though!
I had a similar short-lived question to myself over buying tickets for Bjork...
at the moment im seconds away from just doing it.. but ill give myself an hour to think properly.
It's my favourite band ever but they're now a parody of themselves...
And all recent line-ups have been shit.
But if you don't hate their last 2 albums ( like I do ) why not...
and if so what is their set made up of?
They played all of 'bloodflowers' and mostly songs from 'pornography', 'faith', 'seventeen seconds' and 'wish'.
Nearly no catchy songs.
That would have been a great set if :
1. 'bloodflowers' wasn't awful.
2. they played in a heavy shit way.
But that's just me...
No way I'm going to see them again...
well that seems not to be quite what i would have hoped, although i might take the chance.
its more value for moolah isn't it?
I saw them in 2004 and it was dreadful
I doubt they would have the same gravitas now as they did then!!
all reports from the shows are pretty good.
A lot of stuff from the last two albums has grown on me, and I saw them the last two times they played in England and they didn't disappoint on either night.
I don't know if they're worth £40+ plus booking fee, but they are one of the few genuinely great British bands of the last 30 years. They have a back catalogue 99% of bands would die for, and they tend to play for two and a half hours a night, so they're good value compared to most bands.
The only qualm I have about the show is that its at Wembley. It's not a great venue, sound or atmosphere wise. They'd be much better off playing multiple nights at Brixton.
and for encores they'll do something like this:
1st encore: At Night, M, Play For Today, A Forest
2nd encore: Lovecats, Let's Go To Bed, Freak Show, Close To Me, Why Can't I Be You
3rd encore: Three Imaginary Boys, Fire In Cairo, Boys Don't Cry, Jumping Someone Else's Train, Grinding Halt, 10:15 Saturday Night, Killing An Arab.
Cos they're THE CURE. And it's something you can tell your kids one day. Otherwise, no.
capable of reaching 1989 or earlier.
an d are excited at hearing stuff from faith and porno, as i would be, then go
do not expect an MTV set and you will not be disappointed
because that's what I've paid for Thursday.
definitely worth 40 quid if you're either standing or reasonably close to the stage. They play for about 3 1/2 hours at the moment, have heard reports from friends in Germany, raving about the shows basically. Saw them last at the Royal Albert Hall (in 2006 I think)with the current lineup and it was one of the very best timnes I've seen them, so I reckon they are in good form at the moment. I paid £50 for 3 hours in '06 and I loved every single second of it.
I don't know what Lyle's on about up there ^ but there was a LOT of dark stuff in the set. Us or them... oh BIG SWOON.
au contraire !
But much of this songs were so badly played...
I didn't notice the songs being played badly, but I'm not a Cure/music expert, so I guess I wouldn't, necessarily.
For me, the songs were played much too heavily and with no subtlity.
A song like 'a forest' was ruined.
But that just me...
has no keyboards, so they are done on ye olde guitar, some tunes work some not so
at 'move' in manchester a couple of years ago - they were just excellent - set was lengthy, varied and really uplifting (Yeah, even the maudlin stuff).
i wouldn't sweat £40 on seeing them - that's kind of standard for big bands these days and at least it's the cure!
