I was wondering if you guys know of any really great young blues artists who've emerged this century.
but check out seasick steve if you haven't already.
Seasick Steve is the antiblues :-( Sorry. I really don't like him.
Better than Seasick is Jawbone... now theres an interesting name to check out.
Also, he's more 1990s but check out the Kenny Wayne Shepherd band. that kid is/was? the new SRV. he was 16 when he made his first record!
Check out the album called Trouble Is if you can. although its a bit cringe rock band at times, the blues shines through.
He's like the most true to it person ever since it first happened.
without doubt, though his material is hard to come by and he signed a contract with Experience Hendrix records. I think that means they now own his soul forever...
He's been playing guitar since he was four, and to note - completely the wrong way round i.e. Skinny strings on-top and he can sing really well.
don't like him (seasick). I think its just dull and flaccid. Then everyone rallies, he's a great story teller, and thats important for blues, and i think. yeah. whatever. He just doesn't click with me. Woop de doo. You can't afford a few more strings on your guitar. More like he can't afford to kill off his lame gimmick. I think thats it.
Saw him live and he sucked too. He's too much show and not enough punch. I can imagine when John Mayall's Bluesbreakers went out, not only were they the radical new show in town, they were also doing exciting things with the music.
He's also how I got on to Jawbone, cos I kind of like how Jawbone (for all his sound) could be a hobo. But instead he's quite creative and refreshing. Its all just my opinion I guess, but I definitely don't think he should be the number 1 cool bluesman of the century all of a sudden when there are so many better ones out there.
