ffs well done :(
will die as a result of their 4 track EP leaking early.
Please, they're artists, they produce music for their fans, when Avey Tare was ill last year Geologist + Panda Bear still performed every bit of music they could, for the fans. And also offered free tickets for their next tour in May (at least for the Leeds date they did) as 'compensation'. They realise they're doing a dream job and that money isn't really the be all and end all.
I won't buy it when it comes out, i'll happily admit that. There's no way i could even try and afford to buy a fraction of the music i download, but i still support bands by going to their live shows, joining street teams etc.
You also have to realise that piracy and the internet in general makes a lot more bands that it breaks. Artists have never really made much money off albums either, which is why the labels are the only ones fighting the piracy, not the bands.
First two songs are excellent.
and it's really beginning to get my goat.
the first listen. :D
I will buy it when it comes out no doubt in my mind.
To people to download the whole thing rather than just three roughcut songs?
On June 12, 2007, the first three tracks from Strawberry Jam leaked onto the internet. "For Reverend Green", "#1", and "Winter Wonder Land" soon followed on June 18.
The leak was unusual in that it was leaked sectionally over an extended period of time. Geologist stated on the Collected Animals message board that the first batch of promotional copies were watermarked, and each journalist's name would be digitally embedded on any extracted files. On June 19, 2007, a letter from the band's publicist was sent to music journalists regarding the leaking of the first three songs:
Last week three tracks from Animal Collective's new album leaked. Within minutes we were able to track the leak to a writer's CD. That person got in more trouble than you care to hear about and was almost fired. The person was also forced to write an apology letter to an entire staff of people and the head of Domino Records along with other penance.
Animal Collective member Panda Bear talked with Shout Mouth regarding the band's thoughts on the leak:
The only thing we’re really upset about with the leak is that it’s only parts of it. I think there are six songs out there now. People aren’t even able to get the full experience of the album, which bums us all out quite a bit. So if you’re listening leakers [speaking directly into the tape recorder], put up those other three songs, man, pronto."
is pretty beautiful.
