Ray Of Light
Not good. Madonna is an awful bint.
iggy looks kinda bored and just seems to be pissing about. wonder how much he was paid to be there.
anyway - to reciprocate most of the comments on youtube - i wonder when they'll offer to induct the stooges?
because it is stoo-pid.
...AND HE'S STILL SHIRTLESS.
i get the idea iggy pop's wardrobe is just endless supplies of blue jeans?
he also sometimes wears broccoli around his neck.
would like to see a half decent video of it.
mike watt is pretty obsessed with madonna tho isnt he? ciccone youth, into the groovey, and he did a set of madonna covers with his Ball Hog era collaborators once didn't he?
he could at least have the decency to start making impenetrable avant-garde noise records. But as the "wild frontman" he's got nothing left, he's just going through the motions of what he thinks people expect. And the Ashetons are just fucking geriatric now - when they were younger they couldn't play, but at least they had a bit of youthful vigour. Now it's just a desperate attempt to stay vaguely professional. Mr Watt, no matter how hard you try you're not going to make this band The Stooges. Please give up
Also, Madge is a completely soullous bitch. But you knew that already, right?
i feel like they just called up some old man who used to play a bit of drums and put him at a stool. it doesnt feel right at all. it doesnt feel like hes spent the last 40 years working on being the best drummer he can be, whichever way you see "best"
ron can get away with it tho i think. i still respect iggy tho.
and you cant work out how to feel for mike (yep. first name terms) - on one level he's joined one of his favourite bands, and is playing to the biggest crowds of his career. on the other he's underplaying in a shit nostalgia trip.
when I saw them it was genuinely exciting. Them playing at Glastonbury and a stupid amount of people on the stage was amazing to watch (even if a few people seem to be let up there on purpose every time) and they were even good on Jonathan Ross. Ron's guitar playing was immense on that. Scott Asheton _looks_ fucking knackered, but it's not as if he's holding the rest of em back musically at all.
And let's be fair, having made a couple of albums that good they surely deserve to make a bit of money now for their contribution to rock music, moreso than Chad Kroegerer or someone. Scott Asheton was a builder before they came back. Let the poor man play!
i really enjoyed them at reading 06. but of course its nothing compared to what it was.
yes. This is the greatest review of all time:
"Pardon me one second while I count how many times Madonna uses first-person pronouns on this 50-minute release.
"American Life" = 62
"Hollywood" = 6
"I'm So Stupid" = 24
"Love Profusion" = 67
"Nobody Knows Me" = 68
"Nothing Fails" = 26
"Intervention" = 27
"X-Static Process" = 60
"Mother And Father" = 71
"Die Another Day" = 55
"Easy Ride " = 34.
Well, they say write what you know. And Madonna is all Madonna knows. Or cares about. So why shouldn't she refer to herself 507 times in 50 minutes? That's more than 10 times per minute. That means that Madonna is attempting to show that she is no longer selfish and one-dimensional -- by making a verbal reference to herself EVERY SIX SECONDS FOR THE ENTIRE CD."
in other news, i think you'd find that level of me-ism in a massive amount of music. It's just very fitting when it applies to Madge
but on this album she's singing about how she isn't selfish anymore! It couldn't be more perfick.
that is sooo Madonna
and a friend of Iggy, that might explain something
a few confused viiewers would be watching that performance thinking, blimey, she's let herself go a bit.
