Anyone seen this new magazine?

Now, it sounds interesting - girl rock from a girl's perspective etc etc - but the stuff about 'DIY fashion?'.
Then again, I've not seen it.
Then again, I've read Ms Cooper's articles in a certain other magazine and spluttered chunks of disbelief onto my scuffed shoes.
Anyone, like, SEEN it, then?
Sleater-Kinney = great, obviously.

The album's ace (and although there are some awesome intros, not once does a song fade away into garbage).

Is the music press so badly male-centric that it needs an all-gurl front?
Hmm...
(But I'm gonna check it out all the same)

These are the categories that women are put in thanks to the last 20 years of crap men journos
Kooky -Bjork
swampblues diva - Polly Harvy
chinzty - Kenickie
Pink pound sex kitten - Kylie
rock chick - brodie dalle
sex kitten - erm kylie
well you get my drift - they are the musical kiosk calling cards of assumed male fantasies
Re: Anyone seen this new magazine?
I just wonder if this is the correct reaction? The person in question is 'esteemed', and does indeed write for a number of influential publications; can change not begin there? I'm all for the promotion of women's rocking, but this seems a little too, well, sweeping a gesture - like, this is what YOU need to see, ignore the rest cos it is sexist.
Am I making any sense? Probably not.

I think both men and women are treated as objects to be played with in the music world though - if pete doherty looked like a farmhand he wouldn't have even made an audition for Northside
Re: Anyone seen this new magazine?
I think its an interesting and worthy idea, people always need their horizons expanding, but some will be put off and it would certainly need the support of the male audience to be a success.
My girlfriend, who is a hugely into music, would most likely overlook it, because things like articles on knitting are so divisive even within a "femenist" environment, that actually buying a womens music magazine seems somewhat retrogressive.
