no bullshit folks. just classics. i'll start you off with
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
and British Steal by Judas Priest
Balls To the Wall - Accept
was amazing. that guitar sound is pretty unparalleled, it IS metal.
Danzig's "Mother" obviously, i love the production on that. it's punchy. i love the kick drum on it.
"Peace Sells But Who's Buying?" by Megadeth. The lead guitar always seems ever so slightly out-of-tune, so it's not as clinical as loads of metal is and that really gives it something. And the production's great. I love the backing vocals on thrash records, Anthrax did it all the time, where they all shout together like hardcore bands did.
rule for all time. but rust in peace is the real deth classic for me.
anthrax were good because they were politically righteous whilst also being funny and rocking. so they win on all fronts.
pure, precision, thrash brilliance. I kind of went off metal after that because I knew nothing would ever be as good (apart from Utopia Banished by Napalm Death but that's 90s).
is a good choice, but (even though the band don't like the album) I still prefer the opening one two punch of Inside the Electric Circus. Brilliant intro, great title track, tremendous cover version of I don't need no doctor.
The number of the beast by Iron Maiden
Blizzard of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne.
Better than Diver down. Hot for teacher, Top Jimmy and Panama are top tracks.
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Def Leppard - Hysteria (metal hmmm not quite)
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
Celtic Frost - Into the Pandemonium
...how my parents suffered!
album, that is a classic.
Sepultura - Beneath the remains
Godflesh - Streetcleaner
What do they sound like? Thrash? Or more classic metal?
they're a fuckload better than jesu
Industrial noise with lots of slow, discordant guitars and almost dub-heavy bass. With the occasional sabbath-inspired riff thrown in there, naturally.
I'd be happy to make you a mix CD in return for something similar?
Speak English Or Die
DRI - Crossover
Coronor - No More Color
American Way - loved it.
Metallica - And Justice...the production on it makes it too clinical and unenjoyable.
But was awesome, nonetheless.
I said beneath the remains. I win!
Arise was 80's although it is a fucking belter.
Slayer - Reign In Blood & South of Heaven are both absolute classics...every home should have both.
Seconds for Celtic Frost and Danzig's debut. Oh yeah and Among The Living rocks too!
I'm gonna add Dio - The Last in Line and Manowar - Battle Hymns!
Where the FUCK is VOIVOD!!!!!!!!!!
The album Nothingface is totally unbelievable.
Nothing comes close to it for its time.
