for a long time full stop.
well, one of them anyway. from the moment i heard listened to it, i knew it was burying itself deep into my "favourite albums of all time" list.
the production is fantastic. so many layers of intricate details. it's just an overall amazing album.
One of my all time favourites.
Bye the way, has anybody ever seen the national and the csat of Who's line is it anyway? in the same room?
The National http://tinyurl.com/2na2s6
its production reflects it's atmosphere perfectly.
been listening to it repeatedly since it leaked and its still on a couple of times every week.
the production is certainly interesting. I can't think of many other albums with such prominent drums. Works especially well on songs like Mistaken For Strangers and Brainy, yeah.
but it has to be said they could have recorded it in the men's room at Grand Central Station and it'd probably have been pretty great.
Boxer, in fact. This feels almost like a spiritual moment.
I'm slowly inching towards wanting to purchase this album.

But not as good as some people make out! Kind of slow burning anthemic indie rock. The kind of thing you could play your mum and she'd probably like it but at the same time a bit more interesting than your average slow burning indie rock band.
i was convinced the national would be one of those bands 'acceptable' to play at my parents', my mother deemed it 'miserable'. what does she know, she bought the plain white ts album...
said the bloke out of the National's voice 'sounds like he's calling in sick', i've had trouble taking them seriously.
I think people that don't like the national are just plain wrong.
Wrong about absolutely everything.
'poor man's', but definitely more of an alligator fan
I prefer Alligator. But part of that is my expectation levels were so high Boxer could never compete.
Agree about the production though, Boxer has a perfect atmosphere.
what he said.
