  • Year 10 you say? Gosh, what year was it then, or decade even...?! :s

I think it was 2001-2002 that I was in year 10.

I was still pretty much infatuated with pop-punk and nu-metal then.

I'm struggling to work out if these are right exactly but with the help of Kerrang: Life Is Loud compilations and WMP I think I was mostly listening to...

Less Than Jake - Gainsville Rock City
    Limp Bizkit - Rollin'
Papa Roach - Angels and Insects/Last Resort
QOTSA - Song For The Dead
    Spunge - Jump On Demand

Album wise I was listening almost exclusively to...

    Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Blink 182 - Particularly Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch and Enema Of The State.
Sum 41 - All Killer, No Filler album (never was an album name more true lol)
    Tenacious D - S/T Album
    Boxcar Racer - S/T Album
Green Day - Dookie and Warning albums
    Alien Ant Farm - ANThology

  • If I remember right

Underworld - Jumbo on Beaucoup Fish
    Blur - Coffee & TV

    David Gray: "Babylon"
Apollo Four Forty: "Will & Penny's Theme"
    Badly Drawn Boy: "The Shining"

    Anything off R.E.M.'s "Up".
    Patrick Park - Something Pretty
    Bright Eyes - Lua
Wilco - I Am Trying To Break Your Heart

    One headlight wallflowers
    Iris goo goo dolls
    Girl from mars/goldfinger Ash
    Torn Natalie Imbruglia

The Wildhearts - I wanna go where the people go
    Baby Chaos - Hello
    Therapy? - Stories
    NOFX - Philthy Phil Philanthropist

  • - - -

Basically anything that was on Shine Too.

  • That is now, so:

    1. Weezer - My Name Is Jonas
    2. Radiohead - Trans-Atlantic Drawl
    3. The Art Goblins - AntiGravity
    4. Art Brut - St. Pauli
    5. of Montreal - Gronlandic Edit.

As well as being the youngest on this thread, I have probably the least cool taste. Go me!!

And they didn't all have to be released this year, did they? Cos if so, I've done it wrong.

  • Will Haven - I've Seen My Fate

    The Prodigy - Mindfields
    Fear Factory - Edgecrusher
    Slipknot - Eyeless
    Slayer - Stain of Mind

I still like all of these songs

  • All the tracks off Everything Must Go

and The Prodigy's Fat of the Land. Only 2 albums I used to listen to in year 10 I think (well, only ones I can remember)

  • im gonna say

    incubus-drive
    mew-she came home for christmas
    sinch-something more
    kinesis-everything destroys itself

Come On Eileen: Dexy's Midnight Runners
She Blinded Me With Science: Thomas Dolby
    Little Red Corvette: Prince

    Pixies- Bone Machine
    Mogwai- Mogwai Feat Satan
    Slint- Breadcrumb Trail
    Fugazi- Waiting Room

    muse - muscle museum
    jj72 - oxygen
    king adora - bionic
    idlewild - rosability

    Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight - REM

Weezer - Island in the Sun
    Blur - Coffee & TV
    Feeder - Buck Rogers
    Ash - Burn Baby Burn
    Sum 41 - Fat Lip

  • It was almost 6 years ago

But I remember an unhealthy amount of Green Day, Korn and Blink 182.

    On The Turn - Kerbdog,
That song that goes 'stupiddumbshitgoddammotherfucker' - off of that popular Offspring album,

Blink 182 - The Rock Show
Green Day - Macy's Day Parade
    Linkin Park - Crawling
    Gorillaz - 19/2000

I don't get why anyone would be ashamed of what they listened to when they were 14. I still have a soft spot for most things I used to like.

    • i dont understand that either

looking back with shame at what you used to listen to.i cant actually remember exactly cos i have a crap memory but i think i was in year 10 in maybe 2001.so it was stuff like sum41,system of a down, muse, rival school? (or was rival schools 2002) etc. still listen to most of the stuff i listened to back then today.

  • I think i was

going through abit of a beastie boys weird phase, whilst all my friends were into wank like new found glory

    so it would have been
any song in the beastie boys disocgraphy (most notably pauls boutqiue) or the cypress hill discography (most notably cypress hill II)

  • I was in year 10 last year.

and liked all the same stuff I do now, so:

    GY!BE - Moya
    Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot
    Boris - Pink
Blood Brothers - You're The Dream Unicorn
And You Will Know us.. - Anothewr Morning Stoner

  • well, we had '4th form' not 'year 10'

    The Doors-Riders On The storm

    animal collective - fireworks
    patrick wolf - the stars
    m.i.a - boyz
    and
the smiths - cemetry gates (who i'd only just got into)

    • 1998/9 for me

Based on what gigs I was going to, singles I remember and growing out of that "boyband" phase it was probably along the lines of:

      Green Day - Haushinka
Stereophonics - Local Boy in the Photograph
REM - At My Most Beautiful
Backstreet Boys - Everybody (Backstreet's Back)
      Gomez - Whippin' Piccadily

      not too impressive.

Seem to remember listening to these on my morning paper round on my dad's walkmen (that i had stolen):

    Californication - RHCP
    Free all Angels - Ash
    Gorillaz (s/t)
    Kid A
    Avalanches

Not all released in either 2001 or 2002 but they are the ones i can remember.

Songs were pretty much anything on Wating For The World and The First Broadcast skateboarding videos by Blueprint. Songs included:

    Here It comes - Doves
    Paint The Silence - South
    Wandering Star - Portishead

  • erm...

    Blur - Chemical World
    Blur - For Tomorrow
    Suede - Animal Nitrate
Pearl Jam - Spin the Black Circle
    Beastie Boys - Sabotage

i've not really progressed much since then.

  • god, 1989

  • 2002/2003

    Muse- Deadstar
The Vines- Outtathaway! (repeated attempts to get my band to cover it were in vain)
The Music- Take The Long Road And Walk It
    Cooper Temple Clause- Film Maker
Manic Street Preachers- From Despair To Where (My first gig was that year and it happened to be the Manics)

  • I was 14/15...
