Mine's not quite as big as this:
and some Mars Volta picture discs
what's a picture disc?
it has a picture on it!!
L'Via L'Viaquez one isn't really a picture disc per se, but The Widow and Wax Simulacra ones sure are
I've never bothered with vinyl though. Maybe I will when I get my own place.
so the vinyl probably doesn't even work for scratches and dust damage
I've only got 115-120, although I didn't buy many CDs before November because I didn't have any money. I've probably bought 40 since then.
For it to forever frustrate the finacee. Boxes boxes, everywhere.
thousands of albums.
like any large collection i now struggle to find something to listen to.
ah the perils of consumerism, gonna be a nation of people standing around looking at vast piles of pop culture products and not knowing what to do with it :-(
as a record collection?
and not physically a collection of records. I'm sure 200GB is an impressive amount of music - all legally acquired of course.
i've had a couple of massive clearouts recently though. might have another one soon.
i don't really like his SF work.
actually, i'm not sure i like much of his non-SF work apart from the first few..
but most of his Sci-Fi is too wordy to really be great.
jpod and what looks like the hot pink version of Generation X
and the books in between are all couple as well! i think the only ones i'm missing are miss wyoming (which i had but has gone missing) and the gum thief (not read yet, any good?).
no. i would never, ever do that.
I thought you had before you moved last time. I remember pointing someone toward one of those aluminium flight cases for CDs one time.
In the right unit, top shelf about three from the far right...
Is that Phantom Power I spy?
If so, good work sir.
'Cos mine's pretty small.
i have about 210 albums on cd and one on vinyl and that is my in rainbows discbox :)
Probably around 700 cds.
only about 50 records. Takes up most of my walls. Feels a bit silly sometimes.
as a lot are at my parents and in boxes. I'm now thinking it might be more than that which is a bit frightening. Based on number of Billy/Benno storage units, I have about 1700 at my house. One day I will count. I used to have a database with them all on but it was a pain to update. That's quite embarrassing that.
it was to keep track and stuff and also for potential insurance claims in case any fucknut steals my beloved music
and it's very useful.
My collection is currently 842 CDs, approx 200-300 tapes and about 20 vinyl records.
I don't count free CDs and copied CDs in that.
I need this information at my disposal
and added columns for label, release date, date of purchase, etc.
You really should have done. I'm currently working on my 'Shop I Bought it In' column. FOR NO REAL REASON!
Plastic Case / Card Sleeve
Skippable Track (if any)
Lyrics Included (Y/N)
I have lots of cassettes somewhere, probably under a mound of dust. Including Status Quo's greatest hits and Appetite for Destruction, the first two tapes I ever bought.
i'm also going to inherit about 800 cds (which includes some srsly DODGY country & western) and 200 vinyl records from my dad once he kicks the bucket.
the collection i want most, though - but will probably never, ever have - is my mum's collection of singles from 1962 to 1971. she used to buy a single every monday, or sunday, when she was younger. when she started going out with my dad, she gave him a loan of them, but then my dad's brother destroyed them all because he's a massive dick. i resent him forever for that. :(
300 or so digital albums
compared to most people who are really into music. About 300 cd albums, 100 LPs/EPs and another 150 7"s. I got rid of all my cd singles recently which was pretty satisfying.
5" singles: 1
7" singles: 871
9" singles: 2
10" singles: 27
12" singles: 95
CD singles: 547
CD albums: 914
by any chance?
The other is by *ahem* the Gin Blossoms...
I'm so POP.
16,000+ songs on iTunes - have to filter by genre to find anything.
Oh, and one vinyl. That I've never listened to.
it's getting a bit cumbersome too!
around 400, give or take, CDs. I haven't counted in a while.
and about 100 vinyl LPs, including a bunch of coloured vinyls featuring most of the Smiths 12", some rarish Nirvana ones and the double silver vinyl De-loused.
2000 CD albums
1500 CD singles
200 10"/12" vinyl
50 7" vinyl
50 music DVDs
About 200 cds and a little over 10000 songs on my computer in the couple of years I've been old enough to have actual money (all legal...I only got broadband about a week ago). I've sold shitloads of albums though. It's quite worrying when I think how much money I must've accumalated from selling them.
meh, I'm young and I can't afford to buy lots of music
and to be honest, you enjoy individual records more when you have less of them.
500-600 Cd's, 200ish records
Vinyl 12": About 3 ft in length or so, maybe a bit longer than that. I don't know how many that is (150? 200?), but they're stood up in a row and thats how long they stretch for. A fair few but nowhere near enough obviously.
Vinyl 10": 6 I think.
Vinyl 7": 50? About that.
CDs: Keep getting rid of them, so no idea. They're a pain. I just put them on the computer. Which brings me to...
iTunes: Not sure how many albums, but there's approximately 6000 songs on there, about 20+ days of playing time I think. I'm at work now so not totally sure.
about 120 cds, rest is from itunes music store.
I owe you a drink buddy
all bought for hard earned cash, and about 50 records, mostly inherited
I spend more on going to see live music, and I have a lot of incomplete downloaded albums and albums shared among friends. I sold about 100 CDs at uni which was stupid, I've since re-bought at least 20 of those. I'm currently trying to fill the gaps in classic albums I love and 'should' own on Amazon Marketplace.
I don't really count or catalogue
One person didn't know what a picture disc was, another counted their collection in GB's.. What is the world coming to.
Mine is about 3000 bits of vinyl (a mixture of 12" 7" and LP's) and about 400 -450 CD's. scattered all over the house, in piles. Which certainly does annoy the other half..
and a few dozen lps/tapes/md's etc.
going to sell about 1k cds in the next few months as well...
600 cds, 100 odd 7", 30 odd 12"
people should take pics and post them on here
I tee off with a limited edition copy of that song.
about 9.99 in b&q aren't they?
60gb mp3s lol
I haven't had a job until recently though. I've worked out that since I've had a job I've bought about 40 CDs which equates to 13.33 a month, which equates to almost dead on 160 a year. So in a years time at my current rate of purchase I will of increased my collection by 236%, how cool is that?
Asuming 100% would be what I have now, not +236%.
I want to start one of these, tell me your coloumns..
Orange CD database on the internet (google it). That's what I use. It scans the CD and downloads the details for you, then you can fill in the extra bits if you want. It costs a few quid but is well worth it (free for a month to try out).
I might be tempted to give that a go
i think I'd quite enjoy typing everything in tho, I only have about 300 cds, 50 singles, 5 bits of vinyl so wouldn't be too bad. Thanks for the suggestion :)
Took bloomin' ages to originally type it all in (a few years ago) but it's good to have. I keep a copy at work as well for the insurers in case the house burns down!
Just artist and title nothing else.
YEAR OF RELEASE
NO OF TRACKS
(followed by about 30 columns listing each individual track on each individual release)
SHOP I BOUGHT IT IN
I only have about 130 CDS, and 120 extra as MP3s on my computer. One of my ambitions in life is to build up a massive music library. Is this sad?
The only sad thing is that we don't have enough CDs. I need more damn it, I think I'm going to get addicted and be like some kind of unstoppable CD buying freak.
and 3297 songs on my i-river(none of which have come off the above)
had to move the fuckers into our new flat recently.almost crippled me.
give it time...
Besides, what else is a student loan for??
all your music buying needs catered for (forget silly things like food and drink)
thats exactly what I planned to do when I was 16ish, its taken me another 16 years and I'm still miles away from where I wanna be !
because I want to know how many I've got and I have nothing better to do anyway.
I miss having them all in their covers and in one place, but it would be difficult to get them all over here from Norway. :'( I keep them all in big black folders now which sucks. Thanks to whoever posted that link up therer btw ^
but not really surprising as I never manage to focus on more than a few bands at a time so don't buy loads of random stuff.
I have 137 cd albums and 60 cd singles (including promos etc) and 2 vinyl singles that I can't play (one is 7", not sure about the other one)
About 500 CDs
I buy a couple of 7" singles most weeks, an LP every one or two weeks, or CD if the moneys a bit tighter.
all those records only went for just over $3m! He must be so gutted the guy who's selling it all
THE STARTING PRICE, NO?
But the bids only went up by to $10,000 more in the end.
If so about 500 tapes (I am a 80's kid)
200 or so Vinyl (all of which I love like children)
1000 CD's that I care little for...
I HAVE ABOUT
ON SHELVES i HAD MADE FOR EM
3,000 LPs ANS 12s
AND AT LEAST 5,000 7s
IN KITKAT MULTIPACK BOXES FROM SUPERMARKETS
pushing 500 gigs now... (along with my ~2000 cds)
and about 130 records
damn that southern lord and robotic empire tempting me with there wears!
I love watching my collection grow.
I'm going to sell about half of it off hopefully, the amount of money wasted is so upsetting.
