sucked balls tonight! Anyone else there?
they were beyond brilliance at reading.
about seeing them at leeds, but in the first few songs thought they were dreadful, so ran to see the hold steady and get drunk instead... quite possibly the single greatest combination ever!!!
i want to see them again, they are everyone's friends
for like 15 quid. Shall i not bother then?
barring the first 15 minute dirge of a song, which was FUCKING SHIT
I just can't take them seriously in the wake of Zeitgeist.
No Iha, No Darcy (or Auf der Maur), it's just not the same.
outside the venue when i got there.
The Pumpkins played half a set then buggered off without a word.
where was this?
maybe billy had a fart trapped under his robe?
and what was the mix of material like? 50:50 old / new? To be honest I was expecting a 3 hour mega-set with the best of Zeitgeist and every classic song they've ever done.
This doesn't fill me with hope for Saturday. If they're going down badly now then the next time they tour they'll only be playing the Astoria.
corgan was on zane lowe the other night saying the setlist was really well spread across all era's.
I dont call 1hr 40m half a set...
BUT they did play less than half a set of decent songs which I'm guessing we're post Melon Collie cos I didnt know most of them.
As usual at t'Arena, sound was horrible. I thought they played ok but it did seem like Billy stropped a bit. Apparently security were spotted legging it down to the backstage after 1979 - maybe he chucked a wobbler.
It was pretty empty for the Arena - dont often say it but cock sh1tty would have been better.
They DID play Mayonnaise and Drown though so I was some way happy :-)
its going to blow. i knew it would blow....why did i think it wasn't going to suck...me retard
Nottingham's set was the same as Paris, except it ended at '1979'... let's see the Paris set...
Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
Behold! the Night Mare
Bring the Light
Try, Try, Try
(Come On) Let's Go!
The Rose March
Stand Inside Your Love
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
That's the Way (My Love Is)
My Blue Heaven [Whiting/Donaldson]
The Everlasting Gaze
Cash Car Star
Easy Livin' [Uriah Heep]
For What It's Worth [Buffalo Springfield]
Wasted Years [Iron Maiden] (tease)
I Don't Mind
Apart from that, I enjoyed it, not £30's worth of enjoyment, but still...
The gig they did with Twilight Sad in Glasgow last year was one of the best gigs I've ever been to, so I still have faith in them as a live band, just not last night's performance.
then it will be alright; lots of quality, but so much that they are missing. Some strange choices as well, such as 'Behold The Night Mare.' Will be a shame if they don't play Cherub Rock, To Sheila, I Am One, Bodies, etc.
Am guessing the O2 will be half full. They should have done it at Brixton Academy.
how early did they come on ? i have no interest in oceansize so wasn't intending to get to the O2 too early.
they'll be a laughing stock surely...?
Their last wembley show in 2000 was a bit like this, no proper encore, no proper goodbye, b0lly seemed to strop offstage and can the gig straight away as the house lights came on almost immediately, very disappointing.
Wembley show i was at, i was there and they did encores, and Billy jumped down and did the cheesy high five the front row thing
I met Billy after the gig and asked him what happened... He said "I looked out and seen nothing but unhappy faces, I don't like playing to unhappy people". That was it.
but you're happy to take their money right ? how about making an effort to make unhappy faces happy ?
whilst i wasnt there, i'd like to point out that
A) Mayonaise - lesser known? WTF!
B) What a terrible piece of Journalism.
could you post on here if they come on at a ridiculously early time again, please. cheers
much appreciated- wasn't going to get in there until 9.
They were brilliant at Reading last year & played more older material then new.
... there was no atmosphere and Billy got taunted for fucking up the chords on 1979.
Can't say I blame him for shortening the usual mega-long set, but this isn't going to help his reputation as a stroppy sod.
After this and Arcade Fire I'm more concerned that Nottingham will be perma-tagged with having shit audiences and we start getting missed.
That said, it's only really the Arena that has shit crowds.
I saw them in 95 and it was amazing. 3 hours of amazing. I'll be at the O2 tomorrow and it'll be amazing again - even if Corgan's gone to shit over the years.
i saw them at reading too and really enjoyed it. To be fair it wasn't entirely their fault - it wasn't a great crowd and the arena was barely half full.
I also saw arcade fire at notts arena! I don't think i shall be returning there...
I like the pumpkins a lot, wouldnt say I'm a devotee (listened to Siamese dream & Machina to death, know Mellon Collie, not so much Adore, just out of ignorance really...really quite liked zeitgeist, but I loved Zwan too)
Yeah, loved it.
They had every right to whack as much feedback at the end after the excellent rest of the set.
Mayonaise & Try Try Try which made me happy
the acoustic version of 1979 was amazing too.
There were 2 or 3 songs I really wasnt familiar with and liked a lot,
Corgan seemed to be enjoying himself too.
The little brother who was with me came out of it really taken too, wants to borrow my albums.
when did Oceansize get on stage ? I'm trying to convince my friend we shouldn't get to the O2 too early because we dont want to sit through them, but the actual reason is I want to watch the end of the football...
