Can anyone suggest to me some bands which are Postal service-esque?
i was a cub scout
i am robot and proud
some years back.
You might like The Russian Futurists.
thinking it's a sign.
There needs to be more Postal Service music NOW!
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn
some of that is produced by the same guy.
He also has a group called
DNTEL I haven't herd much of it though.
here is his website I just found
I would love to hear some more stuff like postal service mind. I was a cub scout are ace. I saw them in york the other night.
I will get myself some of that stuff then :)
Yep. Theres loads of small bands on the internet like postal sevice.
I've heard a lot about him but never really listened. I saw I was a Cub Scout a week ago, they looked knackered, but they were reeeeally good.
bright eyes album I think its my fav of his. It made me look into more of his stuff anyway.
slow, inefficient, likely to lose a lot of very important things and performed almost entirely by twats
just like the postal service
very very good. I think it's just the two albums so far, I recomend both.
i recommend the go find too- great band.
His (James Tamborello) other bands - James Figurine and Figurine, both in a simliar although a little bit more poppy vein to postal service. Dntel is great too.
Matthew Dear is kinda similar.
Dark Side of the Cop too,if you can find stuff by them.
Isn't really poppy...more minimal, no?
to hearing their new album. yep.
this is WELL good. Album worth getting?
it's about 1/3 this type of music (the rest being the better indie or electronica).
ALL the bands mentioned here are on rotation :)
Neon Golden by The Notwist
Imagine Give Up but much better :)
yet completly sad at the sad time, Pick Up The Phone kills me.
Just thinking about that video and the One With The Freaks video, almost brings me to tears.
that makes me question why i even bother owning any other CDs.
Which Death Cab album should I get first?
although i started with the photo album which is also ace
although Transatlanticism has 'We Looked Like Giants' and 'The Sound of Settling', which is a nice song in a jangly indie pop kinda way. But yeah Photo Album definetly.
Electric President. They do a similar kind of thing but I find them more consistent and interesting, and more diverse in the textures of their songs. And Insomnia is one of the loveliest songs ever.
i know i totally shouldn't do, but i just can't help myself.
Check that guy out and listen to Remember You 2. It's definitely a bit Postal Service.
I've only heard them a few times and that years ago, but I remember them sounding alot like the Postal Service.
say hi to your mom
i was a cub scout
casiotone for the painfully alone.
hopefully that helps!
have gone more conventional indie pop now, with the occasional stuttery beat and electronic trickery. Although I suppose Self-Titled Long-Playing Debut Album and Holding Colours are in a similar vein to The Postal Service, but You Are Here and Let's Build A Fire are less so.
what's that German band I can't remember the name of? ummm...... Lali Puna.
Also maybe Patrick Wolf's first album...ish?
Mobius Band, the last album definitely, lovely stuff
Rogue Wave (is a touch more shinsy by the arrangements on 'descended like vultures' are incredible and his voice is lush)
The Radio Dept. ('lesser matters' is one of the albums of the decade, it's a touch more shoegaze than postal service but they're scandi so let 'em off)
Headphones (the guy from Pedro the Lion's more electronic project)
M83 (again it's a touch on the shoegazer end of things but lush as hell)
I was a cub scout (everyone's mentioned them already)
George Pringle (she gets compared to them every so offen but is more Arab Strap/Black Box Recorder-esque)
Mixtapes and cellmates
Broken Social Scene
Ummm.... there's probably loads more.
