Do you ever buy an album and unexpectedly know a song from it.

This weekend I bought Relationship Of Command by At The Drive-In. (Damn you people on here, I spend so much on albums because of you).
Anyway I started listening to it and when I got to the 3rd track (One Armed Scissor) I realised I knew and already liked the song. It's pretty much the signature song played at this pub that I often go to on a saturday night, I've always enjoyed dancing around like a maniac when it comes on. It's been said on DiS before but why didn't I know about this band when I was 15.

Anyway does this ever happen to anyone else?

P.S I know it's taken me a while to get into At The Drive-In, is this punishable by death on DiS?

any sign of the bus girl yet? (that was you, wasn't it?)

    • That wasn't the question, but no.

I got a lift while I was waiting for the bus so I may of missed her.

        • It's just that I'm kind of getting fed up with it..

...I never see her, nothing to report. AS BLOODY USUAL!!!

  • Yep, plenty of times.

Biffy Clyro, had heard 57 on the radio and then recognised it when I got Blackened Sky.

Same with British Sea Power's The Decline Of... with Remember Me, and Waltz No. 2 by Elliott Smith when my dad gave me XO.

    It's a very pleasant surprise :)

  • i only borrowed it, not bought it

but when i "first" listened to Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder I realised that I'd heard almost every song on it either as a sample or a cover.

When I bought Rumours by Fleetwood Mac I knew I was going to know some of it, but not as much as it turned out that I did.

  • A couple I can think of

Saturation - Urge Overkill: Dropout features prominently in an episode of MSCL

Bandwagonesque - Teenage Fanclub: Is This Music? was the goal of the month music on match of the day a few years ago
