Just listening to Rumours now. Any other fans? Or am I alone in my MOR love-in?
well at least Rumours and Tusk. I think they are 5th in my last.fm
i love the Mac
you have to admire the commitment to cocaine and internal relationship problems, as well as the melodies.
serious, when Stevie Nicks (i think it's her anyway) sings on "Angel" (i think) off Tusk "when you were good, you were very.... very good" you can just see her staring at Lindsay Buckingham and their eyes meeting and... ah fuck, very little music does that.
there was a BBC3 thing on in early january about rumours, it was grand, had all the background dirt into the songs and what they were about. amazing. who can't love the mac? my father introduced me to them aged about, er... six. and my friend wants 'go your own way' to be played at her funeral. see, they spread across all areas of life!!
is seriously so far and away the best MOR album ever... it CAN'T be middle of the road.
it just makes me...I don't know...excited? I'm a big fan of melodic pop and I can't think of many bands who it better than the Mac.
bands that my parents played that was any good. Rumours and Tusk are incredible, no guilt or embarassment whatsoever.
True fact: on a Christmas shopping trip to London in 1980, I bought PiL's Metal Box (in the can) and Tusk from the Virgin Megastore. I still listen avidly to both of them.
on vinyl for ages in the can, but its dead expensive. I am officially jealous
Am I a bad person?
favourites. 'Little lies' is timeless, genius yumminess.
Your favourite song of theirs?
Go Your Own Way was the first song my mum heard after i was born so my parents decided to name me after Lindsey Buckingham. They thought he was the woman because "Stevie Nicks is clearly a mans name!"
