March 1st Van Mildert College
Short Term Effect
as I have a small idea of where their name came from...
and very nice. There's a castle.
I remember seeing Mike Park at Trillians when he was in the Chinkees. It was really good. I'm not too sure about the solo stuff though.
at the Dog & Parrot a couple of years ago. Very sweet show, the kind where you forget you only know two people there and everyone joins in together.
I haven't been to one of those for ages :(
at new years with onsind and short term effect was the best one of these.
even the touring duo thought so
he's convinced there's no music scene and even a decent record shop.
i can assure you that the only record shop of any description is a relatively small branch of HMV.
There was an independent place which used to be amazing but then it changed management and turned a bit rubbish then shut. It was good for local bands just not really for anything well known.
There is a bit of a scene but it's very small and seems to be mainly bands who never got over the years 77-79. Unless you do a set of Oasis covers the Fishtank is really the only place to go or play in the city.
For DiS stuff now that Portions for Foxes (who did really good shows in Newcastle, Sunderland and put Jeff Lewis on in Durham) have gone on probably permanent leave getting the train to Newcastle is your best option.
:( x loads.
dam. wasn't as good as Concepts but at least it gave us a bit of an option of where/what to buy.
is where my record collecting started getting serious 10 years ago. Great shop.
The choice of cds/records was terrible the last time i was in
I thought it closed long ago.
when it moved up the street near the station. When it was under Milburngate it was amazing. I bought some ace stuff in there. Faves being Psychocandy for £3, a Lift to Experience album and Polyphonic Spree, Soldier Girl Remixes 12". Oof.
Is it closed now though? Sad.
i only ever knew it up near the bus station, so that would explain why i thought it was shit. Aww, Durham would be 1000x better with a decent record shop.
Yeah, that was really good :(
I have no friends though.
