Some good reviews!
makes a fresh change from the turgid reviews that NME gives out. Good free magazine that.
i remember the good old days when sandman magazine was split into different cities
my uni placement with sandman :)
lucky bugger :)
everybody else sits in an office for 6 weeks. i do nothing during the day then go to gigs for free and get to write a double page feature on o fracas. dream placement!
the mag isn't restricted to yorkshire, it's more or less 80% of the north. it also covers london, but the north gets priority. it's distributed far wider than it used to be.
O Fracas are sooo good. My friend has one of their maracas!
is this a new type of JAG...for the 'Yeah Yeah Yeah's'......?
They should get some more regional journo's on the go.
wanted something just for their region though because maybe back when it started they felt no one was covering bands from their area who they felt deserved attention and I think that's how it goes for fanzines and small mags mostly especially such a localised one. I guess the antidote to having your region covered is to start your own thing.
mr Sheffield ^^ would have something to say here
Good toilet reading, but little else.
but I agree that there is difinite room for improvement. They have passion for what they do and certainly have good intentions, as proven by this issues feature on a rather special Sheff band that I have more thsn an passing interest in.... More power to there elbow..
this band then?
in my opinion.
Some good writers and they're never afraid to give exposure to up and coming local (regional?) artists either.
Carry on says I!
with this. Above linked issue reviews a local up and coming band that adds somewhat of a stigma to myeslf, as a DiSer....
Tis of course....
Jag-ing if i say what band was interviwed by Katie Swindley in this months edition. I say you are being a tad coy which band and how possible you could be "stigma"-tised?
stems from my very first wall post....shortly followed by my very first thread. Lets just say - it's stuck with me - and for this, I am totally unashamed.
What band was interviewed by Katie Swindley? That's def. not who I'M referring to. Sean Bruce covered the band that I am referring to, along with Paddy Orange.
does it still smell funny?
does what still smell funny...
the places that stock it usually do :P
interview with i concur and a good review of their single which we're putting out.
they didnt review our new single...
still Lamacq liked it :P
that craine review adequately proves this.
Dizzy new heights for sandman.
are you referring to their review of the champion kickboxer gig that was cancelled? that was classic.
Another good trick is to review the same demo twice. In one issue.
they were the most boring band i have ever seen
sure they're worth seeing, in that case.
but they really were very dull. they looked like they were almost as bored as i was, too.
i'm sure they're perfectly nice people.
