for Time for Heroes and God Is In The TV, though I haven't done a great deal of writing since Christmas
And proof read loads of stuff when I'm not busy doing my real job. Prefer live reviews, though I've done a fair few albums and singles.
for www.cowandfield.co.uk, a shambolic arrangement of idiots who (mostly) don't have any interest in writing and have not yet managed to put a review for a record up before release date. in fact i don't think i personally have managed to get one up within the first month of something being released. i like to swear in my reviews. A LOT. and my review of make believe in London briefly tells the tale of me considering hitting on george pringle despite having no idea who she is. it's all fun, when i can be bothered.
sent them a promo in early december... still nothing... they seem to have a huge lack of record and single reviews
what was in it? e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and i'll forward it to the editor to tell him to tell us to get our arses in gear
write for contactmusic and the Yorkshire Evening Post- the latter neglect my creative freedom and chastise my verbosity regularly.
Actually I think they may have jettisoned me after I forgot to write up a Rilo Kiley gig they paid for me to go to...
I write for planet-loud, a hard rock/heavy metal site. I mostly do album reviews and some band profiles. Used to write features for powpowpow as well, but not so much. Supposed to be doing a bit for Empty Playground also. Oh yeah, and I co-run a site with my mate called keepitfast.
if that counts. Mainly reviews so far
Rock Sound. And occasionally for my student paper if I can be bothered.
Spill before it folded and also for Music4m which also seems to have stopped......
Occasionally I write for Drunken Werewolf but am generally too busy to do much anymore..
AU Magazine - www.iheartau.com
Belfast-based music n' stuff mag that's sold throughout Ireland. Might be expanding to GB soon as well.
really badly spelt reviews for www.nothingatall.net
- Time For Heroes (just started)
- Contributed an article to the Los Campesinos tour fanzine
- My blog is also a website.
Blogs on my myspaz site, although I imagine it would be most exciting to write for a real website, why do you ask any jobs going???
startinga blog when i get round to it
write a few articles here and there for The Vapour Trail fanzine, which is the zine of our clubnight of the same name. They go up on this here blog: http://vapourtrailfanzine.blogspot.com
local press - the West Briton, and used to do BBC TOTP online before it folded. Other local bits and pieces, and a blog, which doesn't get updated much.
write PopCult Zine in Manchester, though I've been far far too lazy with it this year. Just the In The City special.
I also write for The Fugitive Motel (www.thefugitivemotel.org.uk), and am trying to start a blog about cities, architecture and music called In A Town So Small. Used to write for High Voltage a coulpe of years back too. I might be starting some other new stuff, pondering a CDR label maybe. x
Predominantly the former 2 now
I write for themusicmagazine.co.uk and Empty Playground Magazine. I used to do a bit for powpowpow.com too. Joy.
and tastyfanzine, do the odd bit for the student newspaper too.
I've got my own blog which I write most stuff on.
and occasionally thisisfakediy, though they haven't sent me any CDs for fucking ages.
to a hardcore/punk fanzine and have recently written for Lobster Quadrille, trying to get something going on with Southern Records at the mo.
i send it away.
no one ever gets back.
except sometimes they do, and they say can you make it shorter or more to the point please?
and sometimes Dazed. Also Notion for a brief period.
Dazed are great to write for, when they accept my pitches, and those are few and far between. ho-hum..
(When I feel like it).
www.audioscribbler.co.uk (come write for us.. we're 100% unoriginal but have nice bright pink fonts) i write for bbc leeds student diaries.. student newspaper and sandman. woop-de-woop
and my fanzine.
if a label/someone approaches you about maybe writing about a band? Or do you just wait to see what comoes through your letterbox?
Can you see where I'm going with this
I'm always happy to have people send me stuff...
are you trying to trick me?
Has great wallpaper!
if you want
I'll ask around and see if I can put a review on gigwise.
on DiS! Possibly the most influencial man in Music! When the jamster bigs up a band theyll be all over MTV2 in no time, sometimes good - sometimes bad, but fairplay at least you had the balls to call the Twang album for what it was - although their massive now so I feel the damage has already been done!
that was mentioned above.I've done the odd freelance thing in the past too, but I won't bore you.
you get the i concur promo we sent you mr Godis?
Thanks.It should get reviewed.
By the way if anyone fancies writing for GIITTV, send your samples too email@example.com
We're always looking for new writers, and can offer plenty of free Cds/guestlists as incentives....
for Plan B and sometimes Rocksound. does that count? A picture is worth a thousand words after all.
DirtyZine but that kind of petered out when their site did.
So err... anyone need writers?
send samples to
I'll gather you some together later this evening, as I must now get ready for football training.
also write for noize make enemies although haven't written much recently due to being ill and injured for a quite a while, need to get back into it
sheffield steel press.
free gigs and cds is always nice, except i get to pick what i review so invariably end up choosing stuff i already like and giving everything a positive review.
used to co-write a music blog but that fizzled out after a while. it wasn't particularly good anyway.
for the Ulster Star. Usually about 2 a month.
think i've done 4 or 5 reviews thus far
and once in a while he'll humor me. (I'm nowhere near as good as Mike and Sam and Billy and the rest of the DiS staff, so I don't trip.)
and i'm starting my own blog in time.
(ie . the page is up, i just need to do some writing!)
i tend to do more online design than i do writing.
Few bits and pieces on various websites like GIITV and Time For Heroes. But I got lazy with that kind of stuff cause of what I was writing for the paper.
I want to start a blog and maybe write to someone like Rock A Rolla or Artrocker.
apart from my own blog and one other, and those don't count as that's me off my own back going "look at me, everyone, I've heard of some modern music that isn't Hard-Fi and can use words of three syllables or more, occasionally correctly!"
I've done some football writing too, but that doesn't count.
