is the best live album ever. so much artistic merit.
but it does have some pretty spectacular moments when the band and orchestra fall in perfectly together
I love it. And i don't even like metallica.
One is the best though.
THIS is how you do rock&trumpets
whoever did those orchestral arrangements is actually a proper genius. sod mozart.
who was indeed a semi-genius.
he wrote the scores for robin hood prince of thieves AND band of brothers. he is now one of my most favourite people ever.
the excellent work he did with kate bush. he did some gash, but a lot of good stuff.
In a spanish flea market for £2 at the time when the cd first came out.
I love master of puppets with the strings
might have a listen now!!!
He did the theme to Band of Brothers. The incidental music was by someone else, most like.
He did do the score to The Wall though. Another 10 points.
It's about 60% "why did they think this would work?" and 40% "NOW this song makes sense". That's enough for a pass for me.
One especially is now very hard to listen to with an orchestra.
ie I really like it (most of it)
It's a big overblown act of egotistical knob-waving on Metallica's part. Most of the parts just plain don't work.
I suggest "It's Alive" by the Ramones as best live album ever :)
and let you know if i agree.
but maiden's 'live after death' & slayer's 'live undead' are tough contenders.
Of course, someone who can even tolerate the remedial pointless racket of The Ramones would say that.
live album ever, but it is pretty damn great.
