what do you reckon? if this has been discussed before, is there a thread... can't find one. thanks
in ear but never had any of the others
under £50 go with shure. EC2 or SE110(N)'s are both SUPERB value for money
(lost my e2c's at a fest and miss them a lot!)
If you want a set for home then Grados are generally considered to be the bee's knees, though they might be a little bit out of your price range. The Alessandro MS-1s (which are made by Grado) are very well regarded, particularly for more rock/guitar orientated music (although i think they sound great for just about everything, particularly synthy electronica). You can get them for $99 from their website, delivered anywhere for free
If it's a more portable phone then the Koss KSC-75s and Sennheiser PX-100s are considered the best in that sort of price range, although the Koss in particular falls well below your £50 limit. Not that this should put you off. Basically, as much as i like my MS-1s the majority of my headphone listening is at work, where the Koss have been superb partners - they're just a pretty awesome day-to-day phone
Well that's my two cents, although it might be worth you going over to www.head-fi.org for a second opinion from some true ubergeeks (although it'll probably coincide with mine - they taught me everything i know)
I agree with the grados
I bought an 80gb ipod classic a while back to replace my 2nd gen 20gb model and was shocked at how much distortion I got with the new style 'phones! I ditched them in favour of my old ipod 'phones straight away!
in silver. They actually sound better than the black and white ones. true story
I can comment much on the colour making them better! But I'm in my second pair of sennheiser cx300's and they're great. I havent tried loads of different manufacturers but I don't really feel the need to!
Seem to be the best you can get for the price.
for under £50 is Audio Technica ATH-M40fs
If you find any, snap them up as they sound better than a lot of headphones twice the price...
but I've had Sony MDR-EX71s for years now and I really like the sound out of them. The build quality could be a little better but apart from that they're decent.
Don't buy them off Amazon Marketplace, I got some for a bargain (!) and they turned out to be fakes. Fake headphones. Why?
sennheiser 40 poond ones. excellent sound quality, quite discreet and have them cool mushroom ends so you get whopping bass
Alternatively: Which headphones are absolute gash?
headphones on ebay or amazon market place are FAKES btw
