Anyone Know anything about her!!
I think I've got a good story for you here. One of our artists, the
hotly-tippedjazz-punk Kat Vipers (a protege of Michael Nyman) has sent many demos to EMI in the past. And this week she is in the center of an industry hype bubble(MusicWeek, Record Of The Day and Drowned In Sound are all falling over themselves to priase her) that EMI have missed out on. Despite her constant efforts with the snooty label she could never get even the smallest response from them.
So today she stormed into the offices of EMI at Brook Green, West
London to represent all unsigned artists that are being ignored by major labels who seem to be just looking for instant hits. She has told us that maybe if they weren't ignoring the wealth of talent present among unsigned artists, maybe they wouldn't be at the stage where people are losing their jobs. Instead of finding someone to listen to her or take notice, she was physically removed from
The building by over zealous security guards who told her that "this isn't how we do things here".
Is EMI doomed to failure due to its old school ethics? When downloads
came into contention the bosses didn't listen until it was too late. Is there a way back?
